Ah well this
would explain my initial thought of this
Well I am happy to know that he is actually playing and didn't just create a beat and constantly looped it over the song. I can't stand when bands do that.
I still don't know how I feel about the song. It obviously is different than anything they have ever done. They've had accoustic songs before but never with the synth backgrounds and electric drums.
But I certainly applaud the guys for changing things up a bit. I really liked the new sound they brought with Neighborhoods (kind of a harder more uptempo version of AVA) and wished they kept in that direction. But I will get the new album regardless so can't wait to hear the rest.

Travis' drums sound like they are just electronic drums created on a keyboard.

I'm most excited to hear Dog Eating Dogs on this EP, since Mark said "it's very punk rock [with] aggressive guitars."
They really haven't had a very punk rock aggressive song in quite awhile, so I'm very anxious to see if it will be like 10 year ago Blink.

Here's previews for all the songs. It's so much better produced and sounding than Neighborhoods already.

I finally was able to listen to the previews for the songs Broski linked and I am digging the sound.
I've never been too bad of a hater on Tom's AVA voice and I am glad he still injects some of that into the sound he uses for (parts of) Dogs Eating Dogs. Just sounds genuinely passionate to me.
Here is a link to preorder an electronic version of the album for $5. Blink182.com
ETA: You get to download Boxing Day as soon as you purchase the preorder.

Not that I don't dig alot of the indie/folk/alt songs, but I want blink as far away from that as possible.

Only tracks i've ever liked from them are Adam's Song and Stay Together For the Kids.

If you like those songs, I suggest checking out Down and Violence from their self titled album. Really that entire cd is more in line with your two listed songs. All pretty dark and have more substance.

Anything Blink post Dude Ranch and Scott Raynor is disappointing to me.
I am a big fan of Cheshire Cat.

Any leak of a new song or the full EP yet?
I hate waiting.

Bump, EP came out today and it is definitely better than Neighborhoods.
Pretty Little Girl is so good (except there is an awkward Yelawolf cameo that is terrible).

Pretty little Girl is my favorite so far although that Yelawolf cameo messed it up a bit. Disaster is also really good as well as When I was young. I think it is a very solid EP.

The production, song content, cohesiveness, etc. is just leaps and bounds better than what it was with Neighborhoods.
I really like When I Was Young.

Man, I agree 100%. I was digging the song until he came in. I was extremely confused.
Does anyone else think this EP sounds a lot like Angels and Airwaves (AVA), specifically the song Everything is Magic? I'm not hating, and I really like it but it just sounds a ton like AVA to me.

I think blink has gone down hill since the Chershire Cat album----That one and Buddah were good, then after those i just couldn't get into anything they've done

sounds like a personal problem to me.
pretty sure that about 99% of blink fans (at any time in their career) would disagree with you. but to each their own. i think post take off your pants was when they kinda changed. i don't think that necessarily means for the worse. just a change.

This.
Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is my favorite album, and self titled was very very good too.
This EP is great.

Well AVA is basically 100% Tom Delonge, so of course there will be some elements with Blink just like there were AVA elements in "Asthenia", "Always", "Not Now", and "I'm Lost Without You" on the self-titled album. There was just no such thing as AVA at the time.
It's not like Mark and Travis didn't have any influences on this album either. Listen to the drums on all 5 songs. AVA can't do that, because Travis is one of the best drummers in his era.
As for Mark, listen to Dogs Eating Dogs (the song) and tell me that it isn't +44 sounding?
This is what Blink will roughly sound like from now on and I'm ok with that.

Buddha and Cheshire Cat were essentially the same album with a couple of song changes here and there. Dude Ranch was there last pure punk album.
Enema is when they used more pop punk elements and it was a major success worldwide. Because of that, Take Off Your Pants was a similar album as they were building off of Enema's success.
Between the recording of that album and untitled, Tom went borderline nuts and made Box Car Racer which was more dark than Blink. When he came back to Blink for the self-titled album, they wanted to change everything.

In that record you could hear where Tom was going with his spacey elements why Mark was drifting towards more dark punk rock elements. Blink would have gotten to this point in their sound whether split happened or not, it just would have happened earlier.

+44 is an awesome CD. I'm a huge blink defender, but haven't listened to this yet. Will tonight
