I think May would box circles are Canelo. The red rocket couldn't touch May's speed IMO.
Agreed. Canelo is a good fighter but he's flawed. Floyd has a Ph.D in the sweet science and that's why he wins all of his fights....most of them with zero problems.

No but he's top 5
1. Sugar Ray Robinson
2. Henry Armstrong
3. Floyd Mayweather
4. Willie Pep
5. Joe Louis
IMO

I would argue Mayweather shouldn't even be in the top 5. Definitely not above Joe Louis.
Take out a washed up DLH/Mosley/Hatton and it's a huge blow to his resume.

Floyd would beat almost any fighter from any era. Forget his resume, his speed, defense, and counters would make him a monster at any era in boxing history. That's why none of his fights have been close during his career except the first Castillo fight. He is on another level and deserves to be mentioned with SRR, Armstrong, etc.

There's no doubt about it. But I would give more points to a fighter like RJJ that took shots throughout his entire career. Floyd has stayed where he's comfortable and has hand picked his opponents for years.

Julio Caesar Chavez should be honorable mention IMO

It sucks that you feel this way because you're a knowledgable boxing fan on this site.

Bingo. Other than two fights, Diego Corrales & JLC, Floyd has avoided the best fighters around his weight class like a sickness for his entire career. No way can you consider him top 5 of best ever because of this. Going on skill, he has it. But he has never had the guts to display it against guys who "could be" legit threats.

I just feel that his skill level puts him way up there. I can't think of too many boxers that I'd easily pick over him p4p-wise. Floyd will be appreciated more once he retires.

RJJ fought way too many tomato cans but I know it wasn't his fault. The way he made a fool out of James Toney was
Props to Roy for jumping to heavyweight but imo that killed his career. He rushed his move back to 175 and he shouldn't have.

Floyd is not top 5 IMO but he would be top 10, below B-Hop and above Sweet Pea.

Pages 8 and 9 of this thread are pure money.

Why do people still believe this? It could not possible be further from the truth. Do some research on guys like Reggie Johnson, Thulani Malinga, Julio Cesar Gonzalez, Jorge Castro etc. I would put Roy right there with Ali as having fought and beaten the toughest competition ever.
