I remember being around some LSU baseball players the summer of 2003. They were laughing that LSU football lost 5 games and received dvd players, shoes, etc (Cotton Bowl). LSU baseball went to Omaha, finished in the top 8 in the county and received a watch.

That Best Buy credit seems like the best one going every year. Must be a lot of fun to take a team outing for a shopping spree at the Orlando Best Buy.

Last year a 16gb WIFI iPad2 was $499 I think. That and the watch must have been exactly $550.

They're allowed additional money provided by the school and conference.

I think its manufacturer's price when factored in, not retail price, so probably around $400. That is how bowls can get away with more expensive things, by using the manufacturer's value.
I also remember when the Orange Bowl was the only bowl to do the gift suite, now everyone does it
In 2009 when we went to the Fiesta Bowl we had the gift suite, and they rented out a room at the school and put out all the gifts we could choose from. Each gift had a point value, each point was worth about $50. The 8-point items were a big boom box and a 26 inch Sony HDTV for example. I ended up getting the 7 point PS3 and the 1 point iPod Alarm Clock.
Even then, we still got a watch, a game football and some clothes after that.
And for the Rose Bowl in 2010, it was the same thing all over again. The Gift Suite, but only 6 points instead of 8, so I picked the 6 point leather recliner chair. We also got a watch, game football, and box framed mini helmet with a team photo in it.
