re: If LSU were to move away from Miles, who would you like to see hired?

No guarantee chavis stays. you cant just say well if we get to keep chavis. that rarely happens.
Plus who would want a head coach that wasnt able to make his own decisions about his staff? I would never want our HC to be forced to hire someone.
Imo chavis would prob jet if we fired miles and didnt give him the hc gig. His ties arent to LSU. They are probably more to the guy he thinks is one of the best coaches he has ever been around.

Glad to see I'm not the only one on this train.

his d has given up over 30 pts five times this year. they are 7-4 and still have ou left to play. They will finish 7-5 and 4-5 in conference. That doesnt seem like much of an upgrade to me.

I think Miles will be here for at least 5 more years -- barring some kind of disaster -- and will end up with the most wins of any LSU football coach. So who would be available by then?
Someone with ESPN once said Kirby Smart would be the next LSU football coach. Although he would need to have a couple of years as a head coach under his belt. Maybe Jimbo Fisher? Or is LSU that much of a leap over Florida State?

Shaw would without a doubt be my number1 but not sure it's a move he would make.

No, you can't do that... you can't triple stamp a double stamp, you can't triple stamp a double stamp!
Prom's thread. Prom's rules.
I say Chavis gets to stay.

He didnt beat UF either. Lost to a team tat fired their coach. FSU has out recruited LSU since 2002 and prob beyond. Acc is a joke and he cant even go undefeated in that. No thanks.

Wouldn't hate it at all I like him. But wouldn't take him as first choice. It doesn't seem like chavis would be okay with that. Fitzgerald could want it to be his D

Alright, but atleast agree that you think a new HC should be able to hire or keep whoever he wants.

Shaw would be an idiot to move from Palo Alto to baton rouge.

petrino left arkansas in more disarray then when he got it from nutt.

He's questionable ethically, but they were preseason top 10 with him as head coach. He took Arky, a state with a dearth of instate talent, to a BCS bowl, and he finished in the top 5 another year.
He might be the best CFB coach in the country. No AD will touch him though.

My thought would be David Shaw. He has a pro style offense and a solid to great defense

1. Shaw
2. Bill O'Brien
3. Sumlin (I personally think he would consider and would love to have him)
4. Sarkisian (sp) (UW HC)
5. Fitzgerald
Pipe Dream: Chip Kelly but Phil Knight wouldn't let him leave

I like shaw and sumlin. Still would want to see where they are at in 5 years. Prob with sumlin would be i cant see that offense working with mett.
Either way if we move away from miles i think we will be down for a few years because the coach would need to get the players he needs. Also would have to get used tot he sec if hes not already an sec coach. Im just not willing to risk a bcs title for that.

quote:You gotta get players first. Saban would have a field day recruiting LA with Richt as our coach
Think about the coaching combination, TigerTatorTots.
Richt's offense with years of success coaching up top QB's.
Combined with Chavis' defense.
Good fit. Those guys could win.
