the reality of the situation is that Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas were pathetic. An average season by them and you don't have 5 teams winning 10+ games.

Bowl selection committees dont watch games, they review data:
No they want to sell tickets. A team from Texas will sell more tickets in a bowl game in Texas than we will. The Outback Bowl always picks East teams so we can't go there. So all that really leaves is Cap One between us and a team that played for the SEC title

Accept that regardless of all of that, the decisions in the Bama game by coaching and not players cost us that game. Copeland's penalty was big no doubt. But going to a soft defense and giving the out routs and not forcing everything to the middle was a coaching decision. The game should have never come down to last game drive with 1:35 left. That cost us the SEC Championship Game. That is a fact. It's just a fact. Is 10 wins a nice season, yes. Could have and should have been better? Yes. And because that game was ours for the taking it does get me pissed about thinking of what should have been.

The number of games won is meaningless, if you are perceived as having finished poorly. Which is what we've down for 5 years now
So if ga tech wins the acc no one will remember a 7-6 ga tech team playing a shitty rutgers, louisvlle, or syrcuse in the orange bowl? Becuase im not a fan of any of those schools and i will remember and thank god that there is a playoff coming so we can just play for the title every year.
I also remember an 8-5 uconn team getting railed by oklahoma. But yeah ur record doesnt matter. everyone thinks uconn is a great program becuase they played in the fiesta bowl. In fact the media all thinks uconn is better than lsu because they made a bcs bowl game in 2010 while lsu played in the cotton bowl.

Why can't people just accept the truth of this season: it was good but not great. We had a few good wins (TAMU, SC, UW), a few frustrating wins where we struggled against lesser teams (Ole Miss, Ark, Towson), and two losses (Alabama, UF). We won't win the NC, the SEC, the SEC West, or appear in a BCS bowl game. We tied for the fourth best record in the SEC. It's not great, it's not terrible, it's just good. Next season, hopefully we can achieve some of our championship aims.
I could have sworn last night you were singing a diff tune. Ouf course this season wasnt great. But its not a season to fire people over. It wasnt disappointing either, after we lost players. Anyone living in reality already knew the tough road ahead and that made it even harder. 10-2 was what i saw in peeps predcitions, until UF, 7-5, 8-4 were the predictions.
so according to the negaturds, we overachieved.

The real reality unless already mentioned is that our top 6 SEC teams in the BCS top 10 sustained all their losses from EACHOTHER.
There were no other SEC or non conference teams that beat our top 6.

6 SEC teams in the top 10 in the country. 3 of them had 10 wins. If you think that's "simply good", you're not living in the real world.

But look at who they were playing? When not playing each other they were playing the not-very-good bottom of the SEC and not-very-good OOC opponents. FSU, Clemson, and Michigan were the only good OOC opponents that those top six teams faced, and I'm being charitable with my use of the word "good" in all cases.
Two ACC teams and a middle of the pack Big-10 team in a bad Big-10 year aren't accomplishments to hang your hat on.
I think the top 6 SEC teams are pretty damn good, but most of them have inflated records due to charitable scheduling.

Because we play a brand of "not to lose" football that is very unexciting
This about sums it up.

It's honestly a damn shame that this team will finish with 11 wins (lol Michigan in the Cap One Bowl) and still be 4th in the conference finish. What ultimately matters for winning championships is being able to win the conference. If nearly half the conference is getting to 10-2 then no, that's not meaning as much as we need it to mean.

Agreed nf with weak OCC schedules, but 6 out of 10 SEC teams in BCS states what the rest of the country thinks about SEC competition and how raged the rest of the conferences must have played?

bullshite, bowl committees are about regional appeal and potential travel.
Earth to ForeLSU... Why does LSU not have appeal?
Some people are so dense that they wont admit to the problem, even when they state it in their own posts!! We have no appeal, except to a bowl that took us last time when we were 7-5

still good but its not the same as it has been the past.
With the 12 game (and up to 14 game) season, it doesn't mean what it used to. Win 6 conference games, and schedule 4 rent a wins and you are there before the postseason. That means winning the conference games you are supposed to, beating two equals and losing to the teams better than you are.

It seems as if we are being hypnotized into being simply "good" but not "great".
Great teams win championships. 2011 was a great team. 2003 was a great team. 2007 was flukey.

Any person who does not appreciate a 10 win season in college football needs to follow the sport of Cricket...chirp!!!

I'm curious. Based on your criteria, which teams this season are "great?"
