Derrick Thomas. Yea, he was a soph that year. Cornelius Bennett was a stud for them that year.

Hodson was tough. Earlier that season in Lexington he took a hit in the head and basically almost bit his tongue in half.

1999 - josh booty stopped at the goalline.
2002 - lost 31-0 and very very cold.

That's it for me.

1) 1969-Yeah, old timer (was 13), last win at home in forever!
2) 2011-So satisfying when kick went through to remain #1!
3) 2005- Beat undefeated Gumps at BDS after Katrina in OT!
4) 2000- 1st W at TS since 1)!
5) 2010- Good win under similar feelings as 2012!

Maybe my opinion will change in time, but the 2011 Game of the Century, while great, had something missing for me ... The stakes were so insanely high and the buildup was so intense, that I was just a nervous wreck the entire game and then when it got cold in the stadium I was just ready for the game to be over one way or another so the nerves could subside and I could warm up.

Fair enough. Just so you know my shift at work starts at kickoff time, so that may be a good sign.

We were in the upper deck on the end at the curve that is facing the other end zone. Big, ugly plane and I swear I thought it was headed right toward us.

I think the pilot of the KC135 said he thought he was going to hit the crane. We were in the lower bowl on the end they came from and it surprised the shite out of me

1. 2011-most tense game I every watched.
2. 2005-probably the worse I ever got treated in T-town with all the Katrina insults. the gumps were kicking shite afterwards in defeat. we dominated the strip afterwards.
3. 2001-Total freaking arse whipin. Tigers owned the strip after the game.
4. 2010-the fricking excuse game. one of the better tailgate parties I have been to before the game.
5.2000-first time we beat bama since the late 60's at home. I never talked more shite to gumps in my life after the game.
5. 1993-went in high school.

I was walking to the stadium behind the construction area near the north endzone when they flew over. I didn't see them until they were directly overhead and that's the most intense, scary thing I've ever witnessed. It took me nearly the entire 1st half for my nerves and blood pressure to calm down after that. I can't imagine what it was like for people in the upper decks or for LSU fans in the North endzone.

I bet Hodson remembers that one, along with the "meetings" he had that day with Derrick Thomas....

That was brutal.

If LSU does that to AJM this Saturday night, this game could be very different from the way many of the "experts" are saying it will be....

I would not be shocked.

I'm not going to lie.We were up on top in the upper deck at the goal line, basically facing that thing. Scared me to death. Just didn't seem right as it wouldn't ever start to veer back up.

I remember that. I think he ran down and mooned the fans too while spinning in a circle or something stupid like that.

Thinking back, I believe your recollection is more accurate than mine. I'll attribute that to my 7&7 consumption rate that night.

quote:

Was this the game where the refs were about to incorrectly give Bama the ball after a confusing play. I thought I remember a replay up on the screen being what finally showed the refs they were dumbasses and it was LSU's ball.

That's the same game. I went to YouTube for details and that brought back a bunch of memories:

Remember, we hadn't beat Bama at home for YEARS. The score was LSU 23 - Bama 21 with 7 minutes left in the 4th. Bama was driving and inside our 20 when an apparent fumble was recovered by LSU. Unfortunately the LSU Fans' hopes were dashed when the refs' initial indication was that the Bama player was down before fumbling.

But when the subsequent big screen replay clearly showed it to be a fumble the Tiger Fans went from "Disappointed Acceptance" to "Full Out Tiger Droppings Psycho Meltdown Mode". Years of Bama related paranoia (the inability to beat "The Bear", the SEC HQ is in Birmingham, the refs are Bama fans, yada yada yada) all crystallized into that singular moment and turned normally level headed people into raving, blood thirsty lunatics. I remember genuinely fearing that if the call remained in Bama's favor that people were going to storm the field and take matters into their own hands! The feeling was primeval.

I personally think the refs sensed the same thing and that is what influenced their decision to rule it a fumble. Although compelling, the visual evidence should not have factored into their decision since the use of Instant Replay wasn't adopted for use in NCAA Football for for another 6 or more years.

1. 2003 - LSU smashes the gumps after our shutout lost the year before. Saban goes ballistic when Bama averts the shutout with a meaningless field goal.

2. 1988 - TGBFTL member that year. My first experience being surrounded by so many gumps. Must have been the largest number of dress shirts and ties present other than a Mormon worship service. Stadium was a pedestrian 70,123 at the time.

3. 2007 - Sat in the new East side upper deck with the sun shining so brightly on us. I was more pissed at our FIVE turnovers which prevented LSU from absolutely crushing the gumps in their own stadium.

4. 1993 - Just an overall satisfying win.

5. 2005 - Just win baby...

6. 2006 - Typical Les Miles win over an overmatched opponenet. Team played down to its competition.

NR. 1991 - We had Curley Hallman as our coach, need I say more?

NR. 1992 - See above.

Let's see, more wins than losses. LSU is 16-15 against the gumps since that cheating drunk coached his last game against LSU in 1982.
