the data ARE wrong (the word "data" is plural, dude).

Usage Discussion of DATA

Data leads a life of its own quite independent of datum, of which it was originally the plural. It occurs in two constructions: as a plural noun (like earnings), taking a plural verb and plural modifiers (as these, many, a few) but not cardinal numbers, and serving as a referent for plural pronouns (as they, them); and as an abstract mass noun (like information), taking a singular verb and singular modifiers (as this, much, little), and being referred to by a singular pronoun (it). Both constructions are standard. The plural construction is more common in print, evidently because the house style of several publishers mandates it.

quote:

I just argued that you presented the data completely out of the context of the games played.

All information was presented in order of games played with the exception of Arkansas because I felt it should be separated and highlighted as TAMU truly was the most dominant offense Ark faced. I first presented the exceptional TAMU offensive production, followed by other offenses productions against the same opponents. I did not include intangibles like a RSFS nerves, Fla's inability to game plan on defense prior to the first snap, Ark trip being a home game for TAMU, or LaTech being an away game. I simply presented the raw data.

Are you capable of admitting that TAMU IS NOT THE MOST PRODUCTIVE OFFENSE THAT MOST OF ITS OPPONENTS HAVE FACED?

Do you have tangible evidence to the contrary?

Link? Also that sounds a lot better than sucking no matter what time it is, like A&M is prone to doing.

Froggie,

I was trying to figure out why you have so much Aggie Butthurt but then it came to me. This Sunday is the 40thAnniversary of the last time your pathetic team beat A&M. Twenty four straight losses in all going back to when A&M had barely allowed in women and the NCAA still didn't have scholarship limitations. I'm sure this is a painful time for you.

As to your points they are awfully weak for anyone that actually watched those games. A&M had 49 points at halftime against SC State for instance and pulled all the starters. The stats were "down" as well because our PR was busy setting the NCAA record for returns with well over 200 yards making for a short field. They literally could have named the score.

Think of it this way as well. In spite of A&M's hurry up offense that causes very fast possessions we have punted a total of 21 times in 6 games. Whatever though. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure that LSU will shut us out at Kyle (at least that is one record longer than the TCU losing streak, last time was 1971).

they hijacked the florida defence with a ton of misdirection and trick plays in the first half. then, beginning in the second quarter when florida defended that, they got down to playing real football and did not score one point. their offense is a typical big 12 spread offense that normally gains a lot of yards between the 20's and does it quickly. their defences spend most of their time on the field and tire out in the second half. a&m's offense is like missouri's with better athlete's. they have the ability and the personnel to have a power running game but have chosen not to do it. maybe that's best for them since their defense has little depth and they know they need to be an offensive oriented team. all other things equal, LSU should win. but, being at kyle field at 11 am and if we have turnovers, they are capable of pulling one out.

agree 100% but you might as well save your breath. many people love to "frick with numbers" and then use their machinations to try to prove their point. they are very proud of their mastery but, as you point out, often omit the MOST IMPORTANT factors of a matchup. statistics are valid in many situations but sports ain't one of them. if our boys come to college station to kick arse, they will.

Seeing that you are a TCU fan.... what do these stats say about your team? Seeing that we destroyed SMU and you needed 6 turnovers just to beat them 24-16?

Good God, putting that TCU "half the education for twice the price" degree to good use, I see.

typical aggie response to anything. has nothing to do with football nor even any individual's ability to be successful, esp with undergraduate degree only. but, it makes you feel superior so i guess that's something. all of this "statistical positioning" is useless garbage.

There is that Aggie maturity.

Nice job calling people names and using intellegent words like "butthurt". Then deciding to defend the facts about my "points" by indicating they have anything to do with a regular season series that ended 17 yrs ago is just floundering. The teams taking the field Sat have nothing to do with teams from that time period other than name sake.

Im glad you are proud of your ags being able to name the score on FCS great South Carolina State but. Im convinced of their almighty offensive power now.

I never indicated that. In fact if you will look on 10/15/12 I indicated I feel they will score 17 points.

Know this and know it well, the Fla game was no fluke, your offense has struggled against and will strugle against a real defense. You will be a 3-4 loss team at the end of the regular season.

Not a damn thing. TCU was not included in the above stats and TCU does not play the Ags this year.

I know this is a hard concept but TCU has NOTHING to do with the above facts but LSU is coming to your house on Sat and yall will be looking for your vaunted O.

But nice job deflecting.

TCU has suffered major losses to the team in the offseason and begining of this season. I have a dismal outlook for my frogs this year due to that (if you search you will see I predicted losing the remainder of our games after the ISU game). The SMU game is TCU's biggest rival game and there is always a potential to stumble there but the horned frogs are simply not the team they were last year. However, I was pleasently surprised with the win over Baylor, another team with a flashy offense and no defense.

Ok Mr Purple Baylor,

I don't get what your obsession is A&M but it's just sad. The last game with A&M and TCU was also 11 years ago, not 17. I just found it odd that you are going to an LSU site to rag on A&M.

The point which you are ignoring is that A&M could have basically put up whatever number it wanted to in those blowouts and yet you are using that as statistical data against A&M. You also emphasize yardage totals over points which is odd considering A&M is averaging nearly 50 points a game.

Then you switch gears to say A&M can only be as good as it was against UF, the first game for the offense, the coach, and the QB. A&M may well lose on Saturday but what we did against UF won't have much to do with it. Whatever makes you feel good though.

It appears the more obnoxious and intolerable Aggies have found us. Time for TD to go underground.

Well I lke LSU logic. Since townsend and auburn both suck and LSU squeaked out wins there, I'm liking our chances. Townsend put points on your "studly" D. I think we will be fine. Our defense does just fine in the physical games. Ask Florida about their players laying on the Tref the whole game because we were running their arse over. Florida beat you worse than us so according to your logic...we win. Thanks for your great research to prove yourself wrong.

I can make more out of staring at Egyptian hieroglyphics than this stuff.

Interesting that you left out our win over the #3 team in the country.

Y'all sure have been coming out of the woodwork lately.

We only need to do 3 things to beat aTm:

Last week to not be a fluke(penalties, turnovers, drops drastically down)

Red Zone scoring and Red Zone scoring prevention(both need to drastically improve)

Hit Manziel as hard as we did Shaw(let's see how tough this kid really is)
