I'm going to be moving to Houston next year and my dad had brought up the idea of getting a lifetime Louisiana hunting/fishing license. Does anyone know if it is voided when I move out of state?

Where and how do you acquire this?

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website. Or at the LDWF headquarters on quail dr in BR.
Mine was $500. My brothers each got theirs before they turned 12 (or whatever the age is) so it was $300

As someone else stated, they are definitely valid even if you move out the state. I bought mine when I moved to Houston in '97...best investment. Another thing you can consider, if you don't plan to hunt/fish often in La. or price is too much, is the La. native license. But in my opinion, La. has one of the cheapest lifetime licenses around. I can't believe they haven't gone up in price since I bought mine 15 years ago.
Damn, I just realized I've been a way too long!

I looked online at the ldwf website recently and it said up thru age 4 was 200 bucks and it went to 300 at age 5.

It is still valid and WELL worth it!! Got mine 13 years ago and it is still easily the best gift I've ever received!

I bought mine when I was at LSU and then moved back to Waskom, TX for a couple years. This was when they first came out.
We were running dogs near Vivian, LA and had a caravan of trucks going down the road to our next spot. Of course I was the only one with Texas plates and we passed old Green Jeans on the road.
He makes a u-turn and pulls me over. There were 2 GJ in the truck. A young guy and an old guy. I handed the young guy my license and proceeds to tell me he's gonna have to write me a ticket.
So I explained to him what "lifetime" means. He says "I don't know about that, I'm goona have to ask my Sgt."
Needless to say, he walked back over, handed me my license back and told me to have a good day.

No joke, most of the time I think I'm doing nothing wrong, and they bust my arse.

Yeah when I move back to Louisiana...I'll definitely be getting mine. I may have to move out of state again for work..but I want to be prepared.
