When Chipper came up with two outs in the bottom of the 9th

I had a shiver go down my spine.
It was almost ruined by the controversy.
But, we just saw the last at-bat for a great part of Atlanta sports history.
Who's with me?
(Disclaimer: Cliffhanger title is due to character limit, would have put it all if I could)

Didn't wanna pull a hammy and miss that huntin' trip.

I think the same thing happened as with the umpire during the Galarraga perfect game.
That umpire told himself before the play, if it was close, he was giving it to the runner.

Every career AB.

I was still shocked by the call in the 8th that killed all momentum that we had

Sid Bream wouldn't have

I got chills as well. Videoed the entire AB on my phone.
Saw Chipper's last career HR, hit, and at bat.

I was shaking. Chipper has been my sports icon/hero/whateveryouwannacallit all my life. All I wanted was for him to keep us alive ONE MORE TIME. I am thankful for that wish coming true.

I got a little misty eyed. He's my 2nd favorite player. When DJ2 is done, Idk what I'll do. Its crazy to see your childhood heroes riding off into the sunset.

Whenever I played sports as a kid, I wanted to wear the number 10 because of Chipper. Great player

Yes it is. Especially in baseball. You get used to short careers in football but with baseball it seems like the legends will play forever, seeing them hang up their spikes hits hard. This is even worse than seeing ken Griffey jr or cal Ripken hang them up

My neighbor's dog was named Chipper. Until the day he died, he squatted to pee.

IMO Chipper and DJ2 will be the toughest for my age group. We were old enough to see and understand their entire careers AND they stuck with 1 team. Chipper said it best. "At the end of the day I want people to say that boy played ball". Both really personify the game.

Jeter won't hit me near as hard as I've always hated the Yankees but it will most certainly be a very surreal moment. Now that I think of it, Jeter is pretty much the last link to the baseball I watched as a kid......
Well that's fricking depressing.....

Same here. I still have a poster of DJ with his rings in my childhood bedroom

I was talking to a friend during the game about the braves in the 90s...
Will we ever see anything like the trio of Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz again? Not just the talent but how long that talent stayed together. Those were some amazing years.

If that call in the 8th didn't happen, there could have easily been a double play made anyhow. At the very least one out and odds are the score at the end of the inning would have been the same.
Cards were the better team tonight.
I did love the bottles. Nice touch.

Chipper walked off the field for the last time as Braves fans booed and threw trash on the field. Think about that.
