Not breaking news or anything but JJ and Moylan have been non-tendered.
I was wondering this after trading for Walden.

To this day, I still feel as if I owned him in our arguments. I wish he would have responded today.

According to DOB, Braves only have about $10 million left to spend this offseason, not $13-14 as was originally thought. That likely puts them out of the running for any of the remaining free agents out there (Victorino, Pagan, Swisher, Ross), because that $10 million has to be used for LF and a bench bat.
I think a more likely scenario would be a trade for someone like CoCo Crisp, Rajai Davis, or Gerardo Parra, coupled with the signing of Reed Johnson. Also a possibility that hasn't been mentioned is shedding more payroll. With the acquisition of Walden and the emergence of lefty Luis Avilan, I wonder if the Braves will try to unload Eric O'Flaherty, who is set to earn between $3.5 and $4 million next season -- expensive for a set up man. Such a trade would potentially free up the funds to pursue a guy like Victorino, who seems like the best fit among the free agents.

Rumblings about a Braves-Grienke match up. Wren said it's highly unlikely but still have to wonder where the rumors came from.

He wants to play in Atlanta. But the chances of him signing are slim and none. Braves would have to trade Hudson and O'Flaherty to free up that much money. And doing so would mean they'd roll with Prado in LF and Francisco at 3B.

You hear Wren really wants a leadoff guy to play LF but given the options out there vs. cost, I'd really almost like to roll with Gattis in LF and try to let Simmons fill in the leadoff role.
Saves money, adds power to lineup. Unless its JUpton at a lower trade cost than what's been publicized, I'm leaning this way as my hope.

Bowman says don't expect it to be a FA. If anything happens this early, it's a trade.
One guy I think would be a great fit is Shin Soo Choo.

I'd prefer someone who can hit lefties.

I wouldn't mind trading for Coco Crisp. Fits the bill financially and leaves us some extra money for a quality bench/platoon guy.

Future of the franchise.
He seriously did have really good splits when he started though.
.262/.293/.497 w/ 8 HRs, 11 doubles, and 27 RBI in 157 PAs. Obviously not a large sample size, but for whatever reason the guy went to the plate with at least a reasonable approach as a starter.
I'm not sure Wren has bought himself enough good will to roll the dice on that kind of experiment though.

Anyone know a good site to keep up with FA/trade rumors and all winter meeting transactions? Something besides BravesCave...

Pagan resigning with Giants.
Not sure how much interest, if any, there was there though

The pineapple eating bitch allegedly wants 3 years, 30 million. That would put him out of our price range. Allegedly we are working with more like 10 million than the 14 million that was first reported. So even if we could negotiate him down to something like 3 years, 27 million, it wouldn't leave enough for the last two bench bats unless we just find those internally.

Rather than settle for someone who isn't a great fit, I say we let White Bear compete for the job out of spring training. Dude can mash. Sign Reed Johnson for insurance.
