Um... Last triple crown was in 1967.
Who knows when the last perfect game was... Gotta go with perfect game on this one.

MLB has been around since 1869
They've had 16 Triple Crown winners
They've had 23 perfect games
Consider number of games played per season I believe perfect game is actually more statistically impossible.

i think a game in which both starting pitchers had no hitters after nine innings is even more difficult ..
happened only once in MLB history .. in 1917

Now here I am with this comment again.... 20 Strikeout games are more impressive than either.

It is actually a tougher question than people make it out to be. You can use multiple dates as the start of MLB 1869/1876, etc depending on the historian.
If you use 1876 as the date:
There are 16 triple crowns in 137 years.
There are 23 perfect games out of 202,500.
The chance of any game being a perfect game is much smaller than the chance of having a triple crown winner in a given year. That being said you have many more chances for a perfect game. You could really twist the stats in different ways on this one.
Regardless over 137 years to have the numbers 23 and 16 shows that both are pretty amazing numbers.
If you went back to 1967, then you'd have 15 triple crowns to only 8 perfect games. It is pretty interesting that 11 of the 23 perfect games have come since 1991.

winner, winner, chicken dinner. A perfect game is a statistical fluke, though a pretty cool one. A Triple Crown is a real accomplishment.

Triple Crown
you can't just simply be good for 140+ games and win the triple crown. you could be good for that timespan and lead one of the individual categories.
to throw a perfect game, you and your teammates only have to be great for 27 outs.
i'm not diminishing the perfect game, it is a magnificent achievement, but there is a reason the triple crown hasn't been accomplished in so long: it's fricking tough.

It also depends on the competition. Cabrera only hit .330 this year. Most years that wouldn't win it for you. Only two triple crown winners ever have had a worse batting average. On the flip side, guys that hit for average but weren't doing steroids probably had no chance over the last 20 years because they aren't going to hit enough HRs.
There have been periods of time where some of the best hitters don't hit for power like Tony Gwynn. When the best hitter isn't a power guy, then you're going to have periods with less chance of a triple crown. Guys like Pujols, Hamilton, Bonds, etc could have easily won a triple crown.
The stats can be skewed on any of them. Throwing a perfect game is amazing. Throwing a perfect game against the 2012 Houston Astros is less amazing.
Winning a triple crown is amazing. Winning a triple crown with a .316 batting average like Frank Robinson is slightly less amazing because .316 would almost never get it for you. There are plenty of years where guys would have easily won a triple crown if they were in a different year with the same stats. So there is a large element of luck involved because some of the triple crown stats aren't the greatest lines of all time.
