Maybe that explains the fumbles, protection issues, and defensive miscues that we're not used to seeing from this team.

I see what you're saying, but the protection issues have been there seemingly every game.

It's not about Towson, it's not about last Sat night.
This team lacks leadership. Miles can't create it, LSU players have to create it within the team.
The senior class does not seem to have many leaders out there.
The junior class seems more interested in their draft stock.
Right now the so class is being asked to step up with guys like Landry and Beckham.
That's not enough with the schedule about to heat up.

And yet, we make plays again and again and we win again and again. Which all says that you have no clue.

This is not last years team. That philosophy is to run no matter how many there are in the box. That philosophy is to use minimal plays in a simplified play book which he dumbed down for JJ and has apparently not upgraded since. The passing game is simple routes, slants, seam routes, and outs with hardly ever more than 3 recievers. The teams we are playing have improved since last year, can LSU say the same? UF, MSU, and aTm all look better than they were last year. LSU does not. The Oline is worse, QB is a push, running game push. Defense push. Recievers worse.

Will you put stock into the outcome of the FLA game? Good, bad or ugly.

I think you are wrong.

I think saying that after the Auburn game was completely reasonable, but after 2 uninspired games in a row, I think there is cause for major concern with this team.

I would think that after Auburn, they would have had enough pride to man up and just dominate an outmanned Towson team. The fact that it didn't happen is disturbing.

A great effort and a win next week can change that, but at this point we have seen nothing to think that this trend won't continue.

I have to disagree. If Mettenberger comes out and lays an egg then I think we can determine that he is not as good as advertised. If he comes out and plays well then I think it is a confidence and consistency issue not a talent question. I fully expect this team to play their best game Saturday.

Certainly. I'll look for a W or L, before worrying about good, bad, or ugly, though.

I somewhat agree with said thread title.

Here is the deal: We should be very capable of running a base, simple offense against an FCS team, without opening up our playbill for all to see.

If anyone was paying attention, after Towson took the lead, that is basically what we did. We opened up the playbill, and reassured ourselves, as an offense.

What needs to be cleaned up are the turnovers and penalties.

Yes, I think Mett is being allowed to experience some adversity out there. I think he is being prepped.

We have played a vastly different scheme since the Washington game, it is literally night and day.

Get ready for 2007 all over again boys!

IMO this attitude is a settling attitude. Why improve or make changes as long as we win.

Typically those changes will lite a fire under players butts. It appears Miles is looking for continuity on the O-line. When all I see is consistency at being beat by novice teams.

5-0 may be good enough for some fans but thats is a complacent attitude.

It tells you that they think they can just turn on the switch when the opposition gets tougher. It tells you they don't think excellent reps agains a scrimmage opponent matter.
It tells you they lack discipline and focus.
It tells you the O line sucks.

Otherwise, I tend to agree with you.

None of what you think you're addressing to me, has really anything at all to do with what I'm saying.

But, okay.

Yea don't worry about the Towson game. It seems we played that way as well. I'm pretty sure Florida is not that much better anyways right.

Don't you want your team executing in all phases of the game by the fifth game of the year, regardless of the opponent?

After weak performances against Auburn and Towson I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Florida or anyone else think they will have their way with our Tigers. As it is all you hear is "Was LSU over rated" by all the news outlets. I had to turn my radio off.

The Auburn game our defense played well, but the offense needed work. The Towson game, they were just flat on both sides of the ball. Yes I know and understand that the stadium wasn't full of screaming Tiger fans, but still there is a game to play.

I feel this team will rise to the occasion and give Florda all they can handle and then some. Florida is good and it is in the swamp so a blow out may be a stretch. I'd love to see it happen, but won't count on it.

I just hope that those responsible for scheduling our OOC opponents would stop scheduling weak teams. It hurts more than it helps.

You play a weak team and struggle and it causes all kinds of negativity. We didn't lose either game but as a result of the outcome of those games we got dropped in the rankings.

We already had North Texas and Idaho, so why a Towson? I'd rather see LSU not play at all than to play weak teams like that.

Last year we started off with Oregon. The team was well prepared before the season. They stayed sharp all year long too. This year with cup cakes galore all over the early schedule the guys just don't seem to be clicking. Am I way off base on my observation or what?

I'm happy with 5-0. We had one good win (Washington who is now ranked #25) I sure hope the real LSU Tigers show up on both sides of the ball. Defense is sound, but Mettenberger, the O-line, receivers all need to step it up another notch.

I think you should've gotten a pretty good idea of how ready Mett and our o-line are for the SEC schedule.
