I said "I have a challenge for you: make me like The Beatles"

A friend of mine who is huge into music and I started talking the other day about The Beatles. I gave him my general opinion that I think there are several bands from the same era as them whose music has held up better over time, and that I thus believe The Beatles to be highly overrated.
He responded, with great fervor, that The Beatles were his favorite band of all time and when somebody says they don't like the beatles he questions whether they truly love music. But then he immediately acknowledged that he KNOWS I love music, and thus concluded that perhaps I hadn't listened to enough Beatles or to the right Beatles stuff.
So I issued him a challenge. Give me a 20 track playlist that will make me love the beatles.
He responded back in about 2 minutes with a list of 20 tracks. And then two minutes later with a list of 20 more just because he felt like he was leaving too much stuff of.
Me: cool, I'll start with the first 20. I'll make a spotify playlist
Him: the Beatles aren't on spotify
Ruh Roh. We don't live in the same town. And he's really my brother's friend and my second degree friend, so I don't feel like asking him to send me a cd in the mail.
Any other options? I'm okay with skirting copyright laws if need be.

You're one of those . . . I had an ex who used to say this shite. Then would be like I love this song . . . it's the Beatles dude. He just didn't know a lot of the songs he liked were by them.

He can put the songs in a zipped folder and then send it to you through email. I've exchanged cds with friends using Google Docs.

Really I think not liking or claiming the Beatles are over rated has become pretty fashionable. A textbook example of backlash against something you've told over and over how great it is. A friend of mine has said the same thing for a long time, even though as I pointed out to him, pretty much all of his favorite acts are either huge Beatles fans or massively influenced by them.

The point is, they ARE overrated. They put out a lot of good music, but were also held up like gods among men, which simply is not the case. Same holds true with Nirvana. People just want to act like they WERE the music of the era, when they were just the most popular incarnation of the music of the era, which several other bands were doing at the same time.
I personally don't care for a lot of their music, mostly the McCartney stuff.

Don't be so sensitive. I was responding to the dumbass that implied that not liking the Beatles in some way disqualifies your ability to listen critically to music. Now, go back to screaming like a little girl as the Fab Four slap arse in front of the crowd.

all that means is there is too much hype about them and hyperbole used by people that aren't very good at expressing themselves. Maybe they were the best, or at least the best combo of good but accessable music. I do agree that people do tend to overrate the past in a lot of things. But that does not mean that people can not come to the conclusion that while some people go over board with praise, that it is still great music.
ETA: I don't care if people don't like the Beatles or Nirvana, but at the very least, they should recogonize their importance/influence and avoid the gratuitous bashing of the music because of the aggrivating hyperbole of others.

Which is opinion. Most people that call The Beatles "great music" will scoff at the sound of Frank Zappa or Rush or Judas Priest or Merle Haggard. The list goes on. Quality is in the ear of the beholder.
I don't really care for the Beatles outside of few songs. If their fans can't handle that not everyone is in love with them, their love of The Beatles is pretty shallow.
