That is contradicting. I agree that the show is about the journey to meet her but she is a key to the show.
I would have been fine with a quick 5 minute scene at the end of a couple seasons ago involving him meeting her and them having a moment then she walks in and gives him a hug in front of the kids. Show done.
But now, I don't know what I want from this show anymore. I want some closure but I'm just not sure what form I want it in. I don't have any faith that I will enjoy the last season though. I watched a marathon the other day of the first season and it was pretty amazing and then I see some of this season's stuff.

I expect to be entertained and would punch out if I weren't 8 years pot committed to it. This show is quickly going the route of Entourage for me. I didn't care for the last few years of it either but forced myself to watch just to see it.

I watch tv for enjoyment....If the show becomes an irritant I stop watching it.
Its as simple as that.
I also feel you people look for shite to bitch about.
I didnt start watching this show until about 2 years ago...so I have seen it from a different perspective
It was never as great as you all made it out to be....and it isnt as bad as you act like it is now.
ETA: The only BAD thing about the show now is they made Robins character a huge downer...she used to be fun. Now she looks and acts tired and depressed all the time.
Its as simple as that.

I agree, Robin's awful. She's basically just taken on Barney's personality, it's lame.
For the episode, I'm not sure how I felt about it. I was pissed the entire episode because I thought throughout the season we were getting the wedding. But now they showed the mother, and the concept of the next season seems like it could be done well. Hopefully just while they're showing all of the character's they'll show some of the mother before they meet so we get a feel of what she's like.
