Lunch today was awesome. Suckling pig sandwich with black olive relish on a Poupart's Brioche bun for $10. Pork cheeks for appetizer. Pineapple upside down cake for dessert.
All very good.

Great food and an absolutely fine place. I love the oyster sandwich. Never been much of a crowd in there when I've been though. What was the crowd like?

Light.
I wish Lafayette would support this place. If they leave its going to be a loss for Lafayette.

Word is that it is sucking wind. I hope it makes it. I grew up in Lafayette and still have family there.

I go pretty regularly and it's always pretty light. Even on nights after rhythms on the river they never filled up

I agree. I think its pricing is a little higher than fair. I could be wrong seeing as i havent been to many higher end places in laffy in awhile. They have to pay for that high price property (which is leased from what i understand) and the building aint cheap.

I hear this a lot but I disagree. I dine out frequent, and I don't find Cochon any more expensive than other restaurants in it's class.

It's not unfairly priced at all considering the quality of the ingredients, but getting cajuns to pay the prices there for cajun food is proving to be tough.

I agree with this. Plus, the menu does not have enough fluff for some women.

I love the food there and I understand it. I've had one friend tell me after looking at the menu they almost walked out. Jeez!

Haven't been to Laffy in awhile, but the Bonefish in RR was always packed. The price points between the two are very similar, and there is no comparison between the quality. Oh well, I guess the MILFS just like Bonefish. (kidding - sort of).

I've been a few times, and while I have no problems with the prices, I end up spending too much because you can't insult the chef by asking for substitutions, so I have to order a salad or something a la carte in addition to the entree. It's not that I wouldn't love to eat any of the dinners as they come ... but I'm trying to stay away from carbs. Some people think I have the wrong attitude and should stay home, but shouldn't they want my money, anyway?
The wood oven roasted oyster app is wonderful!

Same here. Plus, the restaurant itself is incredible.

None of my friends have told me this, but I've heard that many people feel that way.

That is fricking nuts. Id go for the apps alone.

All i have to compare it to from recent dining is cafe des amis.

I agree. I love the place. Lots of ladies and older people don't get it though.

Go to Jolie's, French Press, or Pamplona and see what it cost to walk out of there. All those places, including Cochon, are an medium high priced dining adventure.
If you need to keep you entree cost under $20, go to Carrabba's or Don's.

Nice jab but i checked out the menu and most of cochon's entrees are under $20.
I guess people just got into my head after ive continually heard of it being overpriced.

Can sum up this entire thread thusly: Everyone wants a great, locally sourced restaurant in their town, but fewer people want to pay for it.
