Always found his song about 9/11 to be bullshite that appeals to the low hanging fruit crowd. 'merica frick yeah etc
Honestly, shame on him for putting out that crap, and shame on anyone else for buying it.

I believe the Taliban and modern country were in a tacit agreement about 9/11. To think of the countless country stars that cashed in on one of the lowest points in American history makes me gag. Dumb rednecks will buy anything that have the words eagle, America, Osama, troops, etc. in it. The mainstream recognition modern country garnered after 9/11 was embarrassing.
I'm willing to give modern country a break if they sing about other noteworthy achievements that don't involve our military. Why not a song about the Mars Curioisty rover or the discovery of the Higgs-Boson particle? Well we all know the answer to that. If it's not about God or America, modern country fans won't but it.

Are you willing to call out anyone for singing any song about 9/11 then?

He's gonna put a boot in your arse

I'm willing to let Alan go. I don't think "Remember When" is a direct result of 9/11 or mentions America or anything. I won't excuse him though for "Where were you when the world stopped turning" now that was cashing in on 9/11!

You bite your tongue, Alan Jackson is a saint

Wrong song. "Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)" was his 9/11 cash in.

Most likely. What's up?

Toby Keith has exploited 9/11 and patriotism as just about everyone of his songs talks about it.
But
Truly a great song. Alan in no way was exploiting a tradegy. I think to call him out on that is bullshite. They practically made him sing it on the awards show that night. Like others he has written (Sissy's Song) he never had the intention of playing it for the general public.

Are you just as upset at those musicians that cashed in on the anit-vietnam rhetoric 35-50 years ago? They actually created a strong divide in the this country and created a generation that hated our soldiers and treated them like total shite when they came back from war.
At least now we are able to separate our distaste with our governments actions and the soldiers that fight. And country music can be credited for some of that or is at least a sign of it.
FYI: I dislike Toby Keith as much as you. When I was in Afghanistan, he came to Bagram on a USO tour and I chose to not go and read a book instead.
