AFTER 1990. And not involving Clint Eastwood.
Meaning Unforgiven is out as is Pale Rider. Which I think was late 80's anyway.

It has been on AMC lately and made me wonder. It is up there now with Forrest Gump, Goodfellas, and Godfather 1 and 2 as movies I always stop what I am doing to watch.

3:10 to Yuma was not bad.
I liked it a lot but it's not better than Tombstone

Huh.
I could have said modern era. But that brings in older guys and movie buffs that would bring in black and white films and John Wayne films. Which is a pointless argument. It is JOHN WAYNE. Also wanted to be fair and limit Eastwoods westerns. Then you could have a whole John Wayne vs Clint Eastwood thing.

Someone mentioned True Grit.
Is the remake as good s Tombstone? Or nearly? I will have to check it out.

I think you could have said after 1980 and then there would only be ONE western that is better than Tombstone and that would be Lonesome Dove.
But that's not fair for Tombstone to have to be compared to Lonesome Dove...imo Lonesome Dove is the best movie period (if allow miniseries)
