Not blaming anyone, but it's not like everyone can afford generators or have the $$$ to get out of town and stay in a hotel for a week.
It's easy for me to have a calm demeanor because I'm at work with A/C and internet. If I was stuck at home in a dark house with temps above 90, only to hear someone in a powered home telling me to calm down, I'd probably get upset too.
It's just inconvenient for everyone, and like I said earlier, seeing people not 20 feet from you having power but you have to wait a week just seems ridiculous. Not saying, they aren't working hard, but it's certainly frustrating.

Totally agree with you dcrews.

While it may be frustrating, I'm positive that Entergy and Demco are restoring power as fast as possible.

For what it's worth, my roommate works for the state and said the guy in the office next to her is from entergy. Supposedly most power in Baton Rouge will be restored today.
Like I said, take that for what it's worth.

Yes it is frustrating. However, you knew there was storm coming, you should have assumed that you would be without power for a few days, therefor you should have prepared for that.

Can anybody confirm or deny that Entergy is not doing anything until this "master plan" is decided?
Entergy is going to focus on the larger problems and work down to the individual neighborhoods. I would assume the people who already got power were due to them either re-routing power, or simply turning a substation on that had been knocked out.

The way and manner these workers operate is retarded. But it's genius to them. By operating in such a way it assures them of the maximum amount of overtime.

So if I can't afford a generator nor a hotel room, what are your other suggestions for maintaing power during a hurricane?
Did I expect the power to go out, certainly. Does that mean I can't be frustrated bc I have to go to sleep drenched in sweat, no.
Don't confuse people being uncomfortable and frustrated with "not being prepared to lose power".

Is this fact? Are you an engineer? Do you have experience in maintaining a electrical power distribution grid? Have you seen anyone doing anything in more detail than a guy up in a bucket truck? Do you even know how electricity works?

No I am not, are you? It doesn't take a electrical engineer to notice someone working as efficiently as a monkey fricking a football.

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about.
Eta: I'm an EE and the way power companies operate is far from "a monkey fricking a football"

If you can't afford a hotel room or generator then I don't know what to tell you except to just deal with it. Yes you can be frustrated but you knew what to expect didn't you?

My power still isn't on either. I'm around Burbank staring area. Half the fricking neighborhood has power but my street doesn't. Every time I call Entergy, I hear something different. Now they are telling me it should be restored tomorrow, but my neighbor just said they told him no one was even dispatched to the area. Basically calling them doesn't help. They are just talking to put someone in your ear

In this case the football is fricking the monkey. It's an utter travesty that a pathetic barely tropical storm leaves half of Baton Rouge without power for 24 hours, and no sign of any work whatsoever in my neighborhood 3 days in.
But... but... 16 hour days!

EE here. Still don't have power and I'm not bitching about it. They're out there trying their best. They're losing more and more money but not having our meters running.

You understand that they are dealing with raw power, and they have to be extremely careful not only to not kill themselves but to not frick it up even more? Even if they fix what they think is wrong with your area they will probably find that something else is wrong.

Pretty much all of Kenner is still out. Parents just drove around and said they saw no trucks on the road but a ton in the Place Ponchatrain parking lot.
