This was something created by some writer who has entirely too much time on his hands.

It would take alot of time and research to create a accurate map like this.

Second is better, but does Texas Tech have that much?

Just glancing at it, Michigan and Notre Dame should have more, Georgia Tech should have less. I'd say Bama should have a more of the state, too.

I'm a GT homer and I will agree they got too much of GA, but spliting Arkansas between the Hogs and ASU is even worse, although they used 2 very similar colors so you can't really tell WTF they were doing.

That map is from 1987, somebody just slapped some logo's on an old map

(ULM was NLU and ULL was USL and so on)

Uh, no. Stanford has no fan base to speak of. USC is really the only program in CA anyone cares about. The rest have their casual fans and a handful of diehards, but the majority of CA should be some "data not available" neutral grey. No one cares about college football in CA.

ETA: If anything, half of northern California should be Oregon fans.

Idaho's range of influence should extend into southwestern Montana a little. Aside from that, Montana State should be everything south of Helena including Billings, and UM is the rest of the state.

Right. We also ride horses to work in the winter and fight Injuns.

The FL map is terrible. USF and UCF have half the state??? The fans of a given school are not regional anyway, they are all spread out. I would say it's 50% UF, 30% FSU, 20% for all others combined.

Wishful thinking,

I'd say 30% UF, 25% FSU, 10% Miami and 35% UCF/USF. UCF and USF's graduate numbers are growing and the number of living alumni will surpass or equal UF/FSU within the next decade. Honestly, nobody gives a shite about FIU/FAU. Not even their alum.

UF and FSU's stranglehold on the state existed largely because UCF and USF lacked football programs. Now that UCF and USF are building athletic programs and boosting their academic status they will continue to chomp away at UF's stranglehold over the central part of the State. I'd argue that Tampa has already flipped to USF even though their football program has just over a decade of history.

This is lame IMO.

The NFL map was cool, but this is too much and not truly accurate. I don't see the point.

UCF is the second largest University in the country based on student enrollment with 55,000+. UF is huge too at 49,000+. USF officially fell off the Top 10 largest list last year when the FL Legislature voted to take USF Poly and make it into the State's 13th Public University. Current enrollment for USF's Fall semester is 47,000+ and will probably land USF back on the Top 10 list. FSU is still large in a national perspective but not as big as the other 3 Universities listed. Last year they were at 39,000.
