Do you have any idea how advanced the NFL is compared to the SEC?
Faster, better athletes. . .

More advanced in those areas? Yeah.

As far as from a strategy, scheme situation?

Not comparable. Most NFL offenses and defenses are pretty basic.

best thing that could happen would be for Dooley to go 7-5 this year and get shitcanned.

Vols bring in Gruden who gets recruiting going well and actually wins 9 games next year. Then, Gruden bails on them for his dream school after they shitcan Brian Kelly after next year.

As long as he comes back to MNF when it's over with, he's pretty good at commentary.

Only college team Gruden may pick over Tennessee is Notre Dame, and I don't think he would.

So you are saying college has more complex schemes than the NFL?

Gruden has tons of ties to Tennessee. His wife is from the area and graduated from here. He coached here (that is when he met her), he is very close with Johnny Majors, he has a home currently under construction here.

just what has Gruden accomplished in college to make you think this?

Gruden would be a great college coach. In addition to having an NFL pedigree with a championship he is also very personable and very good in front of the camera.

Plus his fame has grown over the last few years while on television.

It's hard to understand what skill or quality you think he is missing

I'd like to see him in the college game. Not sure about his recruiting prowess but he's a big personality. I think today's NFL players would tune him out pretty quick but kids would respond.

I think he went to high school in South Bend and his dad coached at ND as an assistant and he grew up a fan of ND. I remember reading an article in which Gruden said he was prepared to accept the ND job after they fired Bob Davie, but ND's President wanted Willingham.
