I always thought that Mid South/UWF was overrated, but it's a shame that Crockett buried them.

In high school, I went to the tv tapings every other Wednesday at Irish McNeal's gym in Shreveport. They filmed two shows back-to-back.

Cowboy Bill Watts (his worthless son, Joel, was tried at everything including refereeing), Boyd Pierce, Reeser Bowden.

I saw JYD take on Paul orndorff in a "anything goes" match in Monroe. Paul comes out in blue jeans and a football helmet. JYD comes out as simple ole JYD. Match ends with JYD ripping off the football helmet and putting it on and the speared Paul in the arse with it a few times. Crowd was epic.

I loved going to watch mid south wrestling with my maw maw.

I saw a 3 team cage match in Monroe. I don't remember all of the teams, but I remember Freebirds, the Great Kabuki and his damn green smoke, Hacksaw Jim Duggin and his bib overalls and big stomp (whatever that move was called) and Ted Dibiase... Not sure who the last guy was. Was a huge party with everyone pounding a way all at once -- I'm not sure who Dibiase was teamed with, but in the end, his partner turned on him, or he turned on his partner -- the crowd was like, "wtf just happened?"

Naturally, the freebirds won - those bastards.
