Update prior to draft. A few videos and scouting reports have been added from MLB's Draft Tracker.

The original thread was started several months ago but is now anchored. LINK for original comments/discussion.

Draft Day 1 Update:
No surprises, Justin Williams taken 52nd overall by Arizona. Good luck to him.

Draft Day 2 Update:
Palladino to the Yankees in round 5, pick #164. Overall, a very good day for LSU.

Draft Day 3 Update:
Longhi and Bugg taken late. The draft went about as well as LSU could have hoped for.

Tyler Allen LHP Deer Park, TX (Deer Park) Video

Parker Bugg RHP San Diego, CA (Rancho Bernardo) 34th Round Pick, 1029th Overall (Baltimore)

Alden Cartwright RHP Baton Rouge, LA (Runnels)

Dakota Dean MIF Crestview, FL (Crestview)

Jarret DeHart OF Medford, NJ (Shawnee)

Jake Fraley OF Middleton, DE (Red Lion Christian Academy)

Nick Longhi 1B Venice, FL (Venice) Video 30th Round Pick, 893rd Overall (Boston)

6'02" 205lbs DOB: 08/16/95
"Longhi has the potential to be one of the better pure hitters from this year's Draft class. He has a quick, compact swing and should hit for average as well as power in the future. Although he lacks range, he is an adequate defender in the outfield and has the arm to play in right. No matter where he plays, the LSU commit's bat will always be his greatest asset and will be what carries him throughout pro ball."

Andrew Mitchell LHP New Orleans, LA (Jesuit)

Christian Pelaez LHP Miami, FL (Florida Christian)

Jared Poche LHP Lutcher, LA (Lutcher) Video

6'00" 200lbs DOB: 11/21/94
"Poche gave up football this year to concentrate on his senior baseball season. It proved to be a fruitful decision as led Lutcher to its first state championship game, where he threw a one-hit shutout. Poche's fastball sits in the upper-80s. He also throws a curveball and changeup, which might be his best pitch and has the potential to be a plus offering. Listed at 6-foot, 200 pounds, Poche doesn't have much projection left, but he has a good feel for pitching and commands all of his pitches well. He is committed to LSU."

Kramer Robertson MIF McGregor, TX (Midway)

Jesse Stallings RHP Colfax, LA (Grant)

Cade Stone OF West Monroe, LA (West Monroe)

Troy Whitty RHP Easton, MA (Dexter School)

Dylan Williams RHP Cartersville, GA (Cass)

Justin Williams 3B Houma, LA (Terrebonne) Video 2nd Round Pick, 52nd Overall (Arizona)

6'02" 215lbs DOB: 08/20/95
"Like many high schoolers, Williams made the rounds over this past summer, playing in the Perfect Game National Showcase, the East Coast Pro Showcase, the Under Armour All-American Game and the Perfect Game All-American Classic. His performance this spring has been just OK, but there's still a lot to like with one of the youngest players in the Draft class. Big and strong, Williams has tremendous raw power as a left-handed hitter and will put on some ridiculous BP sessions. It doesn't always show up in games, though, and he doesn't show confidence on the field consistently. He has tools, but he's still raw and will still be only 17 on Draft day. A team who thinks those tools will develop will take a chance on him in June."

Charlie Yorks? OF Lake Charles, LA (Barbe)

Danny Zardon 3B Pembroke Pines, FL (American Heritage)

Juco:
Kade Scivicque C Maurepas, LA (Southwest Miss. CC)

Connor Hale IF New Port Richey, FL (State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota)

Brady Domangue RHP Houma, LA (LSU-Eunice)

Zac Person LHP Eunice, LA (LSU-Eunice)

David Palladino RHP Emerson, NJ (Howard College) 5th Round pick, 164th Overall (New York Yankees)

"6'09" 230lbs DOB: 03/15/93
Palladino began his college career last year at South Carolina-Upstate and pitched in 10 games before undergoing surgery to repair a tendon in his knee. He then transferred to Howard this season. Palladino's fastball sits in the low-90s, occasionally touching 95 mph. Because his fastball is mostly straight, it is critical for Palladino to use his 6-foot-9, 230-pound frame to create a good downhill angle. He also throws a changeup, curveball and slider. Despite his size, Palladino has an easy delivery and commands the ball well. He is committed to LSU."

Longhi sounds good from his PG profile, possible two-way player.

You can also add Kade Scivique to the list.
He's currently at Southwest CC in Mississippi. Hell play his sophomore season at southwest this year and will be a junior at lsu for the 13-14 season. Article on his past season

Heard today he is no longer an LSU commit. I know he had a rough junior season so I would have to assume the offer was pulled but don't know that for sure. Good player and good kid that is originally from Sulphur, if this news is true hope he can get things turned around and end up a Tiger!

I wonder if 6'2" 210 is big enough to silence the "when are we getting a big 1B" talk?

Thought this deserved a bump now that we're in baseball season.

Kade Scivicque at Southwest Mississippi C.C. is raking so far this season

10 for 25 (.400), 2 2B, 1 HR, 12 RBI, 1 K

There is also a freshman (Tyler Chapman - OF) at LSU-Eunice with 6 doubles and 4 home runs in 14 games and is hitting .350. LSU-E as usual has 1 guy who has stolen 18 bases and another who has stolen 15 bases in 14 games each.

From a March 15th Baseball America blog about sleepers:

quote:

Jake Fraley, of, Red Lion (Del.) Christian Academy
Fraley has a tightly-wound build at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds. He's a solid-average runner and gets good jumps in center field. Fraley also shows at least average arm strength. He has a nice, compact swing from the left side of the plate with some sneaky power because of his quick hands and strong core. Fraley is committed to Louisiana State.

Stallings was throwing around 93 when LSU went to look at him. Hurt his arm and last I heard is going to have Timmy John surgery. He is pretty good for not having good coaching his first three years at Grant. They have a good coach this year but he is having surgery. Just a little tidbit , his great uncle is the mens head basketball coach at Vandy and his cousin was starting catcher at North Carolina that was drafted.
