Just checked the DVR and it recorded a Game of Thrones special "A Day in the Life". Pretty good so far.

It's excellent .

Any speculation as to what's going down in Hardhome in S5??

Just saw what they're using in Sevilla for Dorne. Just gorgeous.

ETA: Apparently the courtyard they're using in the Alcazar of Seville is the same one Ridley Scott used in Kingdom of Heaven.

I honestly don't know. Obviously he mentions in ADwD about the Wildlings gathering in a place like that and expresses wanting to bring them to Castle Black so they don't all turn into our favorite blue eyed fellows. Maybe he actually goes there on the show?

Good point. I'm mainly trying to figure out which scene at Hardhome they filmed that took 3 weeks to do so.

There's not a scene from the books that they would film at Hardhome. This is David and Dan going off script. From the looks of it there is going to be a battle there, because they just have to have a major battle in every season.

Watching Day in the Life and it's got me thinking about the whole show is past the books thing. The show has caught up to GRRM in the Sansa and Littlefinger arc as well as Bran. Jon and Stannis, Dany and Tyrion, Arya, Cersei and Jaime, and Dorne are all still behind on the grand scale of the narrative. We know Bran will not be in this season, so that leaves Sansa and Littlefinger. It is legitimately plausible for this season to merely catch up on all the other stories and having Sansa and Littlefinger get near the climax of their arc together as the only break from the books. IF GRRM can get Winds out before season 6, we can get the resolution of Sansa LF, her killing him IMO, read along with the meat of the season before episode 1. Might not be as bad as we fear. No I have no illusions that Spring will be out before they spoil everything there, but one book being ruined is better than 2.

LINK

So he is saying it's not definite that it won't be released this year, but he isn't saying it will be released this year either. I'm fairly certain he wants to drive me insane.

Well, he's right. The woman never did say that it wouldn't come out this year, just that it wasn't on the schedule. Everybody knows he doesn't like deadlines.

I still don't think it comes out this year, but maybe he'll post something on his blog before summer saying it's done. Then the publisher will put it on the schedule.

I don't think anybody does, but him feeling the need to clarify is just enough of a nudge that I'm hoping for it. A hope that will promptly be crushed.

Alright, Crackpot Theory: Littlefinger orchestrated the riots of King's Landing. Jaime makes note in AFFC that Varys was not there, but then he thinks about Littlefinger in how the throne needs a man like him. But this is a false trail. LF is completely behind the riots, and Varys merely got word of it from his Little Birds and didn't show up.

Let's think about it:

1) A woman with a dead baby in her hands somehow makes it past the Gold Cloaks (who are paid by LF) and doesn't accept a large sack of gold that Joffrey throws at her. She then proceeds to call Cersei a whore.

2) Santagar, Robert's Master-at-Arms and the only living person who knows of the dagger's true origins, is killed in the riots.

3) Lollys Stokeworth, a woman who LF is repeatably invited to marry in the first novel, is rapped, making her basically un-marriable and takes a slight burden off of LF's shoulders. Plus the Rosby's appear to be wealthy, and with her being now a raped retard, no one could marry into that fortune to threaten him.

4) Tyrek Lannister is kidnapped, and having a Lannister under his control would benefit LF as much as it would Varys when the Lannisters are inevitably destroyed under both of their plans.

5) The High Septon is murdered, and LF makes note that the High Septon refuses to take his loans. May have had him killed out of spite.

6) (And most damning) Sansa is kidnapped and was supposed to be guarded by Ser Mandon Moore. Ser Mandon is from the Vale, and was appointed to the Kingsguard well after Robert's Rebellion under suspicious circumstances. It's safe to rule out that Cersei told Ser Mandon to kill Tyrion since she would have repeatably thought of it in her POV chapters, and while Joffrey could have told him to kill Tyrion, I think LF is the most likely culprit and told Ser Mandon to make sure that Tyrion not make it back from the battle alive. Thus I think Ser Mandon was also instructed by LF to let Sansa be kidnapped in hopes she falls in his hands, and he uses the excuse of protecting the King in letting her get away.

LF was the only person who gained from the Riot, even if he didn't get Sansa out of it, but this later worked to his advantage in using Tyrion and Sansa as catspaw in Joffrey's death.

They have to keep the Others relevant in the show. GRRM just dropped them from the book, but he can bring them back in a book more easily than a show.

That isn't entirely true. Hardhome is mentioned multiple times and there are a number of scenes that they could do. You have the slavers taking the women and children, Mother Mole's group seeking shelter there and the ships from Eastwatch going to rescue them. They probably write out the slavers and focus on wildlings vs walkers. The report back to Jon "dead things in the water" has a lot of cinematic potential, as does the general desperation of the wildings being over-run by wights, walkers and God knows what else. I'm actually pumped for that scene, my only concern is that they are going pretty deep into ADWD if they make it all the way to that point. Fat man needs to write like the wind.
