I really want to see Mance Rayder turn out to be Ser Arthur Dayne
I don't see this being true, cause Dayne was pretty famous and would be recognized. I do wish he was around because he was a badass and has the best nickname
Tyrion won't die. He'll either be the Hand again or Lord of the Rock

That's definitely possible. But there could be a possibility that Sansa escapes him/runs away perhaps (while she's still in the Vale)?

Did anyone know a new chapter was released today from TWoW?
I only went back a couple of pages.
LINK
ETA: Apparently not new. It's the one he read at WorldCon but it's finally out on paper.

Thanks .
Besides my 'hopes' for George to actually finish TWoW, it would be nice to see some more Westerosi POV chapters (not including the 1 Theon chapter and the 2 Arianne ones)...

Yeah, I downloaded the new A World of Ice and Fire app and it has it on there. Pretty cool app. It's basically the wiki but you can adjust to where it doesn't spoil anything if you're new to the books. So if I have only read AGoT I can buy all the info leading up to that point. Or I can buy all the info for the series and use a slider to stop from being spoiled. It also has very detailed maps of the entire world.

I've actually had the app for a really long time, and I used it while I was goign through the books. It was pretty helpful.
But, I had it on my iPad, and that recently got stolen. Sad times.

Didn't realize there was an app. Will download.

How are the episode threads going to be this year?
One per for both the books and the show with the Middle ground thread?
I see Psych started that one already.
I know Blue Grass had the catch up thread.
five threads active

Someone posted this earlier:
ASOIAF/Ragnarok
I don’t think that ASOIAF is just the Ragnarok or other Norse mythology retold, but it is interesting that, per this site:
“Fafnir is a dwarf whose father is the richest man in the world. In an act of treachery, Fafnir murders his father and steals his gold. He then flees with the treasure and transforms into a dragon in order to protect it. And, although Fafnir is not involved in the Ragnarök mythology, he is the central antagonist in the tales of the legendary hero Sigurd (and, I have yet to identify Sigurd). So, it's difficult to say what role he will play in future events, but Fafnir is clearly Tyrion Lannister. Like Fafnir, Tyrion is also a dwarf who slays his wealthy father and then flees across the Narrow Sea to the protection of a dragon (Danaerys Targaryen).”
So I think Sigurd could possibly be Jaime because (via Wiki:)
“Sigurd agrees to avenge Regin and Hreidmar and kill Fafnir, who has been turned into a dragon by a curse sourced in Andvari's ring and gold which he's protecting. Sigurd has Regin make him a sword, which he tests by striking the anvil. The sword shatters, so he has Regin make another. This also shatters. Finally, Sigurd has Regin make a sword out of the fragments that had been left to him by Sigmund. The resulting sword, Gram, cuts through the anvil.”
If ASOIAF and this story are related, it could mean that the ASOIAF equivalent to Sigmund either kills a dragon (Dany? Aegon? one of the 3 actual dragons?) or the ASOIAF equivalent to Fafnir, which is very likely Tyrion.
The story includes a sword that takes 3 times to forge, which sounds a lot like the Azor Ahai story…and some here have thrown out the idea that Jaime may be somehow involved in the reforging of Ice/Lightbringer (possibly by Gendry's smithing abilities when Jaime is brought to the BWB/Stoneheart by Brienne?)
In addition to this Sigurd’s tale also includes Brynhildr who he falls in love with. I think Bryhildr = Brienne in the ASOIAF tale because:
1. Brynhildr is a shieldmaiden. A shieldmaiden was a woman who had chosen to fight as a warrior in Scandinavian folklore and mythology.
2. Also Brynhildr was ordered to decide a fight between two kings, Hjalmgunnar and Agnar, and knew that Odin preferred the older king, Hjalmgunnar, yet she decided the battle for Agnar. Well she (Brynhildr) chose the wrong king and later cursed by Odin.... In the case of ASOIAF she, Brienne, chose Renly who was the wrong king.
3. Lastly, when Sigurd's funeral pyre was aflame, she threw herself upon it...This may be foreshadowed by back in COK when Melisandre was burning the Seven, the “Maiden” appeared to be laying on top of and embracing the “Warrior”.

Great theory and a lot of great parallels. But I'm still wary about Jaime killing Tyrion; now Jaime killing Cersei is definitely something that I think will happen.
Posted on 3/22/14 at 1:39 pm to ladytiger118
Jaime being the hero...I could get behind that theory big time.
GRRM could make Cersei his victim.
I fear for Tyrion and his arc. The signs for his decline are obvious. I hope too obvious. (Fingers crossed)
The Jaime Targ thy could keep the kinslayer curse at bay at least.

Completely agree .
Would love to see Jaime sit on the IT at the end. Would be shocking to both readers and Hodors alike.

Haven't noticed it that much before, but the actors who play Roose and Ramsay really do look like father and son.

I'm so looking forward to the Roose Ramsay dialogue this season.
