I'm interested in seeing the juxtaposition to The Others. Everything we've been told up to this point is that The Others are bad/evil/etc. I'm curious is this continues to hold true as we progress.
I been having the thought lately that Benjen Stark returns with him leading the Others...

Or do we find out that we should fear R'hllor and his Red Priestess far more than The Others?
Or what if R'hllor and the Old Gods actually come together as another play of Ice and Fire...

I hope not.
GRRM likes to pride himself on bringing realism to the fantasy genre and in real life there are unexplainable mysteries. Benjen needs to stay gone.

There are a lot of flaws to this theory, but I dont know if that is foremost amongst them.
To me, the biggest flaw it Is the fact that his surname isnt sand.
Secondly, we only know she was dishonored from Selmy's pov, and it could easily be Brandon or even possibly Ned who did the deed.
I just cant fathom any other reason for the implacable Doran to consider him to be so dangerous.
By the way, ive read each book 5x and am nearly thru with a reread of SOS with season 3 coming out.

Well he almost forced Dorne to call her spears entirely too early so Doran was right and his heritage had no bearing on it.
Like I said I like the thought but I think we're getting entirely too comfortable with this "hidden baby" thing.

That was 95% Arianne and 5% Dayne. Im half convinced that he told as well.

Darkstar does seem to possess some type of madness as to his personality. Also I believe Arienne said their children would be as beautiful as Dragonlords. At this stage anything is possible.

And I'll probably hang out here for episodes but occasionally post in the show thread. They get testy when they know you've read and you show up.

That's the killer to me too. Its just so easy to name him Sand and then take offense at any questions. Giving him the name of House Dayne just opens up so many unnecessary problems.

Dr. Bluegrass does enjoy her petty torments.

I don't see that happening, they've talked about his strange disappearance too much

I feel like Benjen has already served his purpose. He got Jon to the wall and he got the watch to the fist. I don't see any reason for him to return.

This will probably be my route as well. It's funny how as the show got more popular those threads got more bitchy. First season it was all people asking questions of the book readers non stop to the point we would have to tell them to chill so we wouldn't spoil something. Then second season it was all book readers STFU!

I'm pretty sure Benjin is Coldhands.

That's what I thought at first but Bran didn't recognize him.

I think one theory is that Coldhands is the Nights King, who some believe is Brandon Stark (Bran the Builder)
ETA:
Heres an in depth theory that ties it in with Bloodraven.

This is my reasoning for thinking that Ben is not Coldhands. Coldhands seems like a very old creature. Also, I still think Benjen is alive some how.

That's an interesting one.

The children say that he was killed a long time ago. Which like you said pretty much makes it impossible for him to be Benjen.
