I think Jon, with Dany's and the dragons' help, save Westeros (by driving The Others back in a significant but only temporary defeat) but neither lives long enough to see Spring much less to rule shite. I'm pretty sure Dany buys the farm, but not before Jon, and probably while having or soon after having a kid by Jon under the bleeding star, blah blah blah...close up of the kid opening his eyes, which are two different colors (like Tyrion's)one Targ/ Dane purple and the other as blue as those of The Others...fade to black.

I liked your Oscar Isaac idea:
...closer to what I think of as Dornishmen's coloring and RV's size, too.
but he's a lil young...needs to be older...and something of the pretty boy, too. Dude has several baby mommas out in the desert w grown bastardessess(s?)

Ah yes. I forgot they were all (mostly) grown (Obara is his oldest at 28yo). I always pictured him as a pretty boy, frankly. But yeah, he's 42 in the books when he fights the Mountain. They'd have to age Isaac a little bit.

Has anyone noticed how Jaime Lannister is pretty much the Bizarro version of Ned Stark? I just think those two characters probably were made up in GRRM's mind at roughly the same time, he just thought of Ned or Jaime first and then decided to make the other character to be the opposite of him in every single manner.

Naw, Jaime has become more likable as the story has gone on. He isn't the conniving evil count his sister is.

I think Jaime actually has a lot of honor and the reason he acts the way he does is because of the way people treat him and expect of him. He killed a king he swore to protect that was a mad man and he had an ongoing affair with his sister that was married but the precedent was set with the Targaryens.

Yeah, I agree that Jaime is a bit of a foil for Ned.

Just because he's the bizarro version of Eddard doesn't make him evil. Jaime is a man who sees the big picture on what honor truly means, in that it is pretty much worthless to him due to its contradictory nature. He has the drive to achieve his goals no matter the cost. He's two-faced, impatient, and quite the a-hole. I say with a bizarro version of the character though, they need to have certain similarities though, in that neither of them give a damn about power and see it as merely bullshite.
Eddard though really can't see the big picture of anything when it comes in the way of his honor, the thing that he tries to convince to himself matters most, even though in the end he knows his family is much more important. Anything that can be in Ned's gain he won't take unless he sees honor in it. He's incredibly sincere, noble, kind, and patient to others.
Sure Jaime gets better, but from how the characters really start out, they are characters remarkably different and remarkable reflections of one another. I am honestly unsure what Ned would have done with Aerys in Jaime's situation. Cersei I don't think meets the bill, since the one thing she cares about most is power, and the only thing Ned and Cersei can reflect off each other is their devotion to their children.

Ned and Ser Barristan, Dayne, etc. probably lived/lived by the same code of honor and they didn't do shite, just kept their mouth shut. At least Jamie had the courage to question things to his sworn brothers.

But still, Aerys was plotting to murder hundreds of thousands of innocent people. I think even Ned and Barristan would question murdering him over that.

I was talking in general and kind of before that. Such as when Jamie is bothered by Aerys raping Rhaella.

Would they have questioned it? I think so. Would it bother them? You're damn right it would have. Would they have done anything to STOP it? I'm not so sure. I would like to think they would've but I'm not sure they actually would have

And does anyone know what Carson posted in the Last Words thread on the OT

I think as a young boy Jaime wanted to be the perfect storybook knight, kind and honorable as well as fierce. He wanted to be Arthur Dayne or Barristan the Bold. But then the Mad king made that impossible and in bitterness over the loss of his childhood ideals he threw away the whole notion of honor and chivalry. Then he sees Brienne trying so hard to live up to his boyish ideals and that, combined with the loss of his hand, makes him really look at himself and his world.

I also believe Jaime has a lot of honor. I just believe he did what he felt was needed to be done at the cost of his reputation without hesitation. After his hand got cut off, he was humbled and less headstrong. Jaime knows the game from being in court for so long.
Ned is honor bound. He is calculating but likes to blurt out his plans (Reminds me of the Doctor in Doctor Who, giving the bad guy a chance)
Ned doesn't know the game because they were kind of isolated up north.
