That would be sweet. I just don't think we'll get it from GRRM. He still plans to write several Dunk & Egss, plus those last two novels.
Maybe he'll finish ASOIAF and sell the rights to someone...like Lucas did with Star Wars.

Am I the only one that doesn't like that they have so many various points of view in the series from AFFC onward. Really as of now the only POV they should have added are Cersei, Asha, Arianne, Ser Barristan, and Connington (plus the prologue and epilogue characters). I just don't know why he's giving us the POV of characters that don't even matter, when more important characters that already have or will have POV chapters are present.

I don't mind the multiple POVs so much. Think he needs them to move the plot along. For instance, there is no "main" character in Dorne in AFFC but major stuff happened there. Same with Selmy and Martell kid in Meereen.

I see what you are saying though. Think also Martin just loves writing, anything. Probably likes to flex his brain with things like "the Soiled Knight"

I can only think of one chapter that Arrienne isn't directly involved in the events of Dorne. Keep it about her since that makes me invested in her character. It makes it hard for me to stay invested in Dorne without a major character to root for. And the Martell kid's point of view is almost worthless, at least as far as I can see.

I thought this often first time through the series. I'd be like.... Who the **^^# is this?

Really the chapter that gets to me is why they had a chapter from Aerys Oakheart's point of view when they kill him off in the next chapter he appears in. Arranne was present throughout, and it just seemed like a dumb decision for it not to be her POV, as well as in ADWD when she's also present the entire chapter, but we don't get her POV.

I too question the decision to give POV's to throw away characters at times. I try to find justification for it. For example with Aerys, it seems throughout the series GRRM has touched on the oath of the kingsguard and the night's watch and shown how many who have taken those oaths have broken it. Maybe he was just trying to show the conflict that some face when doing so. I feel like I'm reaching here but it's really the only reason I can see for not doing this from Arianne's persepctive, but honestly you could have accomplished this from her pov also.

Glad someone saw. I had to do it. Nasty business, but someone's got to do it

You sound like a young Janos Slynt.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed those sweet paragraphs in ADWD. I had a revenge boner when Stannis nods at Jon as he is about to chop that POS's head off.

Same here. I hated Janos Slynt almost as much as Joffrey and more than House Frey.

GRRM thrives on showing every character through a different characters eyes. The reason they weren't all through Ariannes pov is because that would only be one side of the story. GRRM wants to tell the story through every set of eyes he can. That's why you have characters like Jaime who are pieces of shite in the worlds eye but we know better.

I don't see what it added though. Until ADWD, we didn't have any other character's POV that intersected with Dany's story. Jaime, yeah, it adds alot to get an outside view of him first and then an inside one, but from Aerys Oakheart, not at all.

You were seeing another outside look at Arianne, not Oakheart His chapters were pretty much solely focused on his thoughts towards her.

Right. I looked at it as a way to show you how she's viewed.

That and also to allow Martin to still kill off point of view characters without ruining his story line down the road.
