To all those worried about our DBs....

I know that losing TM7 hurts because of his play making ability. However let us not forget that when he started his run, he was a little known freshman. There is nothing that makes me believe that one of those underclassmen that LSU went out and purposely brought here will rise up and be special too. We have great coaches and great players and they will be great. Last year we lost TM7 and Ron brooks came in and we didn't miss a beat. Was he regarded as highly as TM7.....no way. Remember my post when at the end of the year we are talking about a new superstar at DBU

agreed, losing TM7 is as bad as people are making it out to be. is nothing will ever be as bad as January 9th

My point exactly. People are going overboard stating we will be set back because there is no experience behind TM7. Well he didn't have any when he started. Nor did PP7

with the d-line that we have, i can fricking play cb for the tigers this year.

Losing the best defensive player in the country who did things consistently that I have never seen in football before is going to hurt just a bit more then a little "play making ability" loss. QB's cant just chunk the ball at our secondary now but be real.

losing him could be the difference in being a national title team or not... We are so thin there, all of a sudden. It's scary.
Posted on 8/10/12 at 4:30 pm to Lester Earl
I don't think we are thin at all...most teams would kill to have our depth their even still. But the defense is not going to be as intimidating as it would have been with him on it. Still going to be a good defense. Just go re-watch his two year highlight video as a reminder. Nobody else in football has a highlight reel like that in two years. Nobody.

Well I think what we will lose is the great turnover margin we've secured with him the past 2 years. Not saying that somebody else can't take up the slack but he scored 2 defensive tds, 2 punt return tds, had eight turnovers and 1.5 sacks all of that in his sophmore year, and all that from one corner position.
Since you don't have that one guy roaming the field like a junkyard dog, sniffing out the enemy, you will need the linebackers to step of their game and case turnovers. You also need corners to actually intercept the balls not just bat em down, and a stellar, fearless, punt returner to make the opposite 12 look stupid daring to take him him.
Don't forget the turnovers.

how can you say that?
we lost 3 of our top 4 CBs from last year. All we have after Simon is freshman.

Well...when you put it that way we may be thin. I am going more off of the practice reports...the TM7 PP7 all had great practice reports when they were freshmen too. Unproven depth but still depth maybe...hopefully.
