Looks absolutely amazing but, then again, for $60 Million you'd expect it to: LINK

The Allen Eagles will host Southlake Carroll in the first game of their football season on Aug. 31 for the inaugural game of the district's $60 million stadium.
Even before the new stadium broke ground, the project made national headlines.
In 2009, voters approved the expensive new facility, because many said the old 14,000-seat capacity was not enough to accommodate the fans.
"It shows that the people of Allen support their kids," said Allen head football coach Tom Westerberg.
Just days before Westerberg's team begins practices, the district offered a first look at its new crown jewel.
The 18,000-seat stadium boasts NaturalGrass Matrix turf, a 75-by-45 foot HD video scoreboard, a weight room and sunken-bowl design.
"When it's all said and done, we're going to have over 8,000 season ticket holders," said athletic director Steve Williams.
Most season tickets are gone, but a few will go on sale early next week.

My buddy just sent this to me....that's ridiculous. I've seen stadiums like this in TX before but they were shared between all the area teams...this is for one school as I understand it...that's unreal.

It is becoming an arms race in high school facilities. These stadiums are starting look like small college stadiums.
I live in Mansfield and we have one of the nicest stadiums in the Metroplex, but it is small potatoes compared to the new one in Allen.
Here is the link to Vernon Newsom Stadium in Mansfield.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Texas, there were about 7 people at the Astros game last night

That's amazing. I don't know enough about the area to really judge, and I'm a love high school sports, but I don't think I'd vote to raise my taxes to build a $60M stadium.
Maybe it's a true econonomic development issue and good for the community in that sense, but seems like an an unnecessary shrine.

I can't imagine places like Allen would be very good though. Sure, you can find good quartbacks and O linemen, but there's just not enough "athletic" folks in Allen if you know what I mean.

My family lives in Allen, and I've been to several of their games. They're a pretty damn good team, and the fans take their football very seriously. Their practice field was nicer than almost every high school field in Louisiana.
Their old stadium was huge and always packed out, not surprised really.

I hope they're sending a few kids to IVY League schools if they're pimping out their stadium this much.

Is this Allen team even good?

it would show a lot more support of the kids if they spent that money on academics. imo, our priorities are fricked. it's no wonder much of the industrialized world is passing us by. and i actually love football.

thought there was a "Mc" before allen and was like 'nah'

What's funny is most of these kids that go to play in college are going to deal with a downgrade in facilities ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I never thought I would see a facility better than Tulsa Union's, but they may have. Union as a group though is best out there.

They can pay $60 mil for a stadium but can't seem to find a way to get Thomas Jefferson in their history books.
