i cant wait for them to get the 4 year death penalty. im sure the big10 would boot them if they got it
I doubt it, with only 11 teams, the Big Ten couldn't have a Championship game.

They'd kick them out and replace them. It's not like PSU has a long storied tradition in the conference that would decimate the Big 10 like losing UM or OSU would.

Rodney Erickson, the school president, signed a consent decree more or less stating that PSU was forfeiting the right to any and all appeals processes as part of the NCAA's sanctions. The guy that's raising this lawsuit is arguing that Erickson didn't have the legal authority to sign the university to a binding document like that because he hadn't received board approval to do so.

they could add another team. psu would be useless to the big10 if it got the death penalty

I guess the Missouri rumors start all over again.

Maryland or Rutgers would join the Big Ten without any notice.
I saw an interesting thing awhile ago in the bylaw blog, that the schools could do something worse than the death penalty -- they could vote PSU out of the NCAA entirely with a 2/3 vote of the member schools. And you don't even need an infraction for that.

Under the circumstances the Big Ten might be able to petition for and still play a CCG. I think they'd act fairly swiftly to add a 12th member as well.

I don't think they would grant it. Simply because the Big 12 lost their game when Colorado & Nebraska left.

But who? The Big 10 isn't just going to take anyone. I don't see them taking Maryland, since they are cutting programs for financial reasons. Rutgers, I believe is a AAU school, but Penn State to Rutgers is a big drop off. I think they would take try and get Texas.

Not anymore.

I hope they appeal their way into a 4 year death penalty, kick them out of the big 10 and add Notre Dame

Kill PSU with fire. Burn Jonestown to the ground.

Death Penalty seems easier to overcome than the sanctions they got
Why do people keep saying this?
I couldn't possibly make less sense.
4 years of no football is infinitely worse than what they got now. It just is.

I know.
Lose $60 million once, or at least that much every year for four years?
Have absolutely no program, or just be banned from playing in a bowl for four years?
I'd love to see someone actually try to justify how what they have now is worse than the death penalty for four years

I think the people saying the death penalty wouldn't be worse think it was going to be just a one year punishment.

Yes, because Notre Dame has been begging to get into the B1G.

They're pretty much asking for the NCAA to go in there and air out ALL their dirty laundry, even outside of football.
This is going to get really ugly.
If they have anything else, it needs to come out. Hiding things is chicken crap.

I think PSU BOT is smart. They know there's no way they're going to get the death penalty. Look how many people (outside of OSU) were crying that the sanctions they got were unfair. They're counting on the "PSU/JoePa fatigue factor" where people are just tired of the story and will settle for less than what they have now just to be rid of the story. There's no way the NCAA has the balls to go harder than what they have already dished out merely because PSU challenges them in court. It's a no-lose prop for the BOT, as far as I can tell.

Let me get this straight
A member of the Penn State BOT joined by 3 other members have filed an appeal of the school's NCAA sanctions without putting the appeal before the BOT for a vote.
And their standing for filing the appeal is because the NCAA sanctions were not brought to the BOT for a vote.
