I've been impressed with Simon his first two years, but can he be a lock down corner a la Peterson and Mo?

I know he is pretty good, but he can be considered that elite/take away half the field level?

Trying to ask a legit question, unlike many on the rant I will admit that I don't have a big XO/technique background.

he seems to be pretty fast, has good ball skills and has great heigth (6'3) i think he has the potential to be a lock down corner and i think he will be.

If he could catch, he would be a 1st round pick.

I'm not so sure he'll be the as dominant a corner as Peterson or Claiborne but he is going to turn a lot of heads this year I think.

The SEC this year is not really loaded with very good WRs all over the place so DBs could feast a bit this year.

Yeah his side will be feared this year much like PP7 and Mo IMO. Got all the tools, now time to apply the potential we all know he has (how he wasn't voted atleast a 3rd team all SEC DB by the coaches blows my mind).

He's been my favorite player since his freshman year. I can't even explain why, just really like the way he plays. Look forward to seeing him be featured more this year.

In 2010 Simon played Julio better than PP7 did. FACT

I think Simon will be in the running to get LSU our 3rd straight Thorpe award winner. Keep in mind that our 4th best CB went in the middle rounds of the draft.

Yes.
If he get's edged out of the Thorpe, it'll be by some DB with a bunch of INTs, fumble recoveries and forced fumbles.

There is a quote from one of the SEC coaches in the Lindys preview mag comparing him to a "spider". He said "it was like he was really 6'7", all arms and legs". Dude never gets beat deep, I say match him up 1 on 1 against the other teams vertical threat and let him do work.

Just keep in mind that he could fall short of their standard and slip back to "only" a 1st round draft pick, as opposed to top 6 pick. He could still be a dominant lock down corner without being as good as either of them. I'm hoping fans will keep in mind just how high of a standard to which we have become accustomed at that position, and judge him (if they feel they must) accordingly.
