Never seen it. Recorded it over the weekend. The first 2 hours were brutally boring. Does it get any better?

Best western ever made IMO. The first episode is mostly the set up to them leaving Lonesome Dove. It gets a lot better. You should definitely keep watching.
I have 2 beagles named Gus and Woodrow. That is how much I love Lonesome Dove.

It gets better but if you truly found the first bit to be so boring then I am not sure how much you will like the rest of it. I could watch all of LD over and over.

It's a great story but if you're expecting anything more than that, you may be disappointed.

Great western, but this movie revolves around Gus and Woodrow and how two totally opposite personalities will do anything for each other. So if the first couple of hours bore you, just stop now.

"What ever happened to Wee Willie Montgomery? You never had to whack the bartenders when he owned that saloon."
"Well anyway, here's to the sunny slopes of long ago."

What in the hell is wrong with you? Stop now, you don't deserve to watch it.

Call: "You'd better ride hard if you want to catch him before he meets up with his gang."
Gus: "Its only one gang, Woodrow."

Woodrow Call: You ever get tired o' loafin' I reckon you can get a job waitin' on tables.
Gus McCrae: Oh, I had a job waitin' tables once. S' on a riverboat. I wasn't no older than Newt, there, but I hadda give it up.
Newt: How come?
Gus McCrae: Well I was, too young and pretty and the whores wouldn't let me alone.

Go kill yourself. You obviously suck at appreciating classic Westerns. It doesn't get any better than the interaction between Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. Lonesome Dove is largely recognized as one of the best mini series of all time.

The first two hours is a little slow but it's setting the stage for greatness.
