It gets better but if you truly found the first bit to be so boring then I am not sure how much you will like the rest of it. I could watch all of LD over and over.

I second this opinion. If you don't like the first two hours then you probably won't like it all that much overall. I see it as one long awesome movie. Westerns is my favorite genre and this is one of the best all time. Not just my opinion, most people feel that way. Man Diane Lane was sexy.

Never seen it. Recorded it over the weekend. The first 2 hours were brutally boring.

When I was a kid, the only excuse for missing church on Wed night was the week Lonesome Dove was on.

I was tired so that may be why I didn't like it. Im gonna keep watching it because everyone acts like its some masterpiece. Hope they are right. I could have directed the first hour myself though.

I cut you slack the first time, but now you are pushing it. I hate rude behavior in a man. I won't tolerate it. So, now I will kindly ask you to GFY.

If you're looking for action and folks getting shot up in every scene then it's not for you. It's more the setting, dialogue, characters.. that make LD what it is. Similar to some other great westerns like Unforgiven.

It's one of the few westerns chicks like (if you can get them to watch it).

I'll second that. This chick loved both the book and the series. It's in the top five books I've read.

Woodrow CALL: You're just mad 'cause they didn't know who you was. You're lucky they didn't throw you in the jail.

Gus MCCRAE: It ain't much of a crime, whackin' a surly bartender. I guess they may have forgotten us, though.

Also check out Dead Man's Walk and Commanche Moon and Streets of Laredo

He wrote LD first, but it is third in the series as far as storytelling goes.

LD is by far the best book and miniseries of the series, but it is all cool.

With Dead Man's Walk a close second IMO. They're all great books.
