I don't blame them, they are just trying to protect the family name because they really can't damage it anymore.
I can absolutely understand this point, but sometimes the best thing to do is lay low.

the unsaid message is the end of the gravy train for the paterno family...where do you think any of them could get a job?
would you want to do business with anyone who would hire a paterno right now?

I think the only member of that family with useful skills is the kid who became a lawyer, but who the frick would hire him to argue in court?
It's like hiring Johnny Cochrane in the sense of "you just know this client's guilty", except that Joe's kid is no Johnny Cochrane.

I think that JayPa, who spent the vast majority of his career as an assistant under his old man, has elected himself spokesman for the family.

Some folks simply don't know when to shut up. The deed's done, the storm has arrived. They need to ride it out as graciously as possible. Once all the shite stops flying, which may be awhile, then pick up the pieces and graciously start trying to rebuild Jo Pa's image. As long as they keep fighting and denying, the damage is only going to continue and get worse.

They are still in denial.

They just keep making that hole deeper...

Sorry, he did it to himself.
Exactly. The Holocaust defamed the good Hitler did for Germany.. This family needs to STFU
