I dont have issues with Costas but that said, I dont necessarily agree on the DP.
Punishing PSU is fine but not necessarily the DP or even shutting it down, which some people have brought up.

I am as angry as anyone about what happened at PSU and I wish the worst for them and their program. I wish Paterno was alive today just so that he could me made to pay for his crimes. Yes, these aren't sins, these are crimes.
Having said that, I still don't see how the NCAA can give them the death penalty because technically, they did not violate any NCAA rules.
The CFB world will implicitly give them a death penalty. Their recruiting will suffer and their program will be paralyzed soon enough. This will happen.

Look at 2.1.2
2.1 THE PRINCIPLE OF INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL AND
RESPONSIBILITY [*]
2.1.1 Responsibility for Control. [*] It is the responsibility of each member institution to control its intercollegiate
athletics program in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Association. The institution’s
president or chancellor is responsible for the administration of all aspects of the athletics program, including approval
of the budget and audit of all expenditures. (Revised: 3/8/06)
2.1.2 Scope of Responsibility. [*] The institution’s responsibility for the conduct of its intercollegiate athletics program includes responsibility for the actions of its staff members and for the actions of any other individual or organization engaged in activities promoting the athletics interests of the institution.

The NCAA would be well within it's rights, and may have a responsibility to give PSU the death penalty.

Wow, ripping a great journalist and most sports fans. Costas won't change my opinion, but why the hostility?

I think many people are most offended by the kinds of sins they themselves are guilty of

Blasphemy!
Costas is the best in the business and is usually spot on in most situations but I have to disagree. PSU will have over 100 mill in liabilities by the time the civil suites end. Not everyone at PSU is responsible for Sandusky and most of those people are gone.

i'm not saying get rid of the lower level people,
That is what will happen is if you give Penn State the death penalty
So football is the only athletic program at PSU...

Wrong....See Marc Emmert describing their "ethical guidelines" concerning LOIC for coaches.

Just a comment bout the cost to Penn St. Its insurance carrier will cover all liability & defense costs up to the policy limits. And then there should be excess coverage up to set limits on top of that. Not sure how that coverage mite apply to the 3 defendants,as they were acting ..or not acting as it were..as employees of the university & mite be covered by Penn St's policy. But they have no personal insurance coverage that would cover this I'd think, certainly not their homeowners.

You call that black and white? That's about as fuzzy as it gets. If the Baylor basketball scandal didn't waarrant the death penalty, I don't see why this should.

Costas knows what he's doing. Leave criminal proceedings to the judicial system please.

The problem with the death penalty is it acts like penicilllin: It kills everything in sight. Good and bad.

Anyone else called for the death penalty yet? Nope.
