Those would be two good additions, but I'm really hoping for another striker

If we start 3 up top every game we may need another. Although I'm not familiar enough with BR's system to tell if the attacking 3 players he uses are all true forwards or not.

EDIT: unless you're referring to "striker" in its proper context (CF), but it doesn't seem like BR uses a true English striker in his system.

yeah, I'm talking about a true CF (not in the AC mold), but someone to lead the line... a clinical finisher. I think the position has evolved in the sense that most are more technical than in years past...

I think Luis can play this position, but could also play as a wide forward.... Either way, if we lose AC, Borini and Luis are not going to be enough (injuries, rest, etc)

I agree. His cheeky back heels, and one touches always screamed for a return pass. The other players just never met his tactical skill level so he never received the ball when he expected to. Borini will certainly help that, and to an extent Bellamy (if he stays), but we need someone else.

Some cover for Enrique at LB would be nice, too.

I'm really worried about Enrique. He has had no class the past 6 months.

Its like he fell off of a cliff. What the hell happened? He was so good for the first half of last season.

Agree, he needs someone to come in and push him for that starting spot. He knows Jack Robinson isnt ready and we wont move Agger there permanently... Get someone to push his arse to excel, or take his starting spot...

I can see why Pool nation has a man crush on him. Such a classy and dedicated guy. Wish he were the one to replace Wenger but great hire by Pool. I was telling Sobeast that months ago when yall were still looking at Martinez that I felt Rodgers would make a fine manager after seeing his Swansea team play and especially after they beat us at our own game.

LINK from Italian source basically saying Ramirez is ours

and translated to english:
quote:

Juventus NAPLES - It seems very close adieu to Italy and Serie A playmaker of Bologna and National uruguagia, Gaston Ramirez . Despite strong interests in respect of the young blue by Inter, Juventus and AC Milan and Naples, the boy will leave shortly the Beautiful Country. On his trail is in fact pressing for some time on Liverpool , and as a sole crop in the drafting of Calciomercatonews.com in recent days, the British company would have closed ranks presenting a concrete offer of 16 million euros. The club would like Emilia will get at least twenty but it is very likely that the agreement is found, as usual, somewhere, maybe around 18 million plus bonus. For now, the Reds is the only official offer made ??for Ramirez and consequently the red and blue seem very willing to give up the boy in the Premier League. The white smoke could be short unless twists.

i really didn't care for martinez at all, and didn't know much about rodgers before we hired him

but so far, he's said and done all the right things. couldn't be happier that he's our guy with the way he carries himself and represents the club

hopefully good results follow

JV. Now that Aquilani is gone hope it jump starts JCole out the door. Mabie we accept WHam offer for Carroll and bring in the Texas Gangster.

We can only hope.

At this point, I will be shocked if Allen isn't bought. He has had a great Olympics and I really think he looks the part. Hope we don't break the bank for him. I think Dempsey is more likely than Ramirez just because of the price tag.

I also really hope Rodgers turns to the loan market to bring in guy or two to fill holes until we get more cash.

Supposedly we are working on loans for Callejon from RM and Affelay from Barca.

Of the two who would you prefer?

Either can play the wing (which is what we need) and Callejon can play forward while Afellay can play AM. Callejon is probably the bigger goal-threat while Afellay is tremendous on the ball and has great creativity. I'd probably rather Afellay but would take both in a heartbeat.

Gerrard (assuming the Joe Allen deal) , Afellay, Suarez and Borini attacking =

I think Callejon is the better player but I don't know if Afellay isn't a better fit. Both smart moves. Liverpool have been very smart with the money this summer.

At this point I really don't know if LFC need a goal scorer or a creator more.
