Get a creative goalscorer. Problem solved.

Top 20 attacks from the Benitez era
#4 is
and we all have seen the #1 gif a million times.
How much does that video make you miss Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt and Benayoun? Class.
ETA And Xabi left 3 years ago today :/

Rumors from today:
Bellamy is undergoing a medical in Cardiff
City is preparing a 20M bid with 100k+ wages for Agger

Tello not being named in Barcelona's first-team squad is something to think about especially considering he has been "linked" with us all summer.

I dont think they would sell Tello, maybe loan him out. He showed real promise last season for them. Bellamy still can play. With yall lack of quality options in wide areas I would keep him for another year.

There is almost no price tag i'd put on Agger. He's our most essential defensive back line player, and has the technical ability to thrive in BR's system. Selling him to anyone would be a big mistake IMO.

I go back and forth on Agger. I love him and would prefer to keep him.
However, similar to RVP, last year was an anomaly in his LFC career... he has been plagued with injuries... I read over the weekend that he has only participated in 41% of games he has been eligible for, while at LFC (not sure if accurate, but probably not too far off)
So, part of me says take £20mm and invest half in another CB or maybe elevate Seba to 1st team.. Invest the rest in the squad.
I'm of the opinion that if we sell, its because Rodger's believes it will make good football sense and to invest in the team. I know many on the internet feel it will be because the new owners are looking to cash in and reduce wages...
ETA: Oh yeah, I would take cash and players (Tello and/or Afellay) from Barca, before I would ever sell to City...

Be careful in selling your top players. Trust me, as an Arsenal fan, it can become a slippery slope. Now if someone wants to come in an overpay for a player and you use the money off said player and directly reinvest into the squad, that's smart management. At AFC we do everything right except for the reinvestment in the squad, excluding this summer.

Honestly, I'd be gutted if we lose Agger or Skrtel before the season begins. No way do I want to see either of them gone. Those two make up the only pairing on our squad that is settled. I'm in no rush to put Coates, or transfer guy in there. Just can't sell Agger right now.

Especially off the great defensive season yall just had.

Beautiful. Gets me pumped up for the season. I wish we had this much activity in the Arsenal forum. Much respect to all the hardcore Pool fans and their dedication to posting.

Looks like Bellamy is Cardiff bound. I understand the move, but I wish we would keep him for at least one more year. We will need to start getting some attackers in ASAP to replace Kuyt, Maxi, and Bellars.

Me too. I would hate to lose him, but it would be good business IMO. He has never played more than 25 league matches for Liverpool in one season. He is a fantastic CB but it's not worth it to pay him 100k/week (what it will take at this point) if you can't count on him to be healthy the whole year.
ETA But in general, I think selling players to fund the squad isn't good business. Players should only be sold if they want out or a huge offer comes in. I don't think Agger would be sold because of his devotion to LFC and how perfectly he fits BR's system.

I agree you dont want to set a precedent and become a selling club, but sometimes the offer is too good to pass up... See Torres...
The biggest difference is I dont see Agger as really wanting to leave...
That being said, by fund the squad I mean making it stronger as a whole. Many of the best clubs in history are known for knowing when to sell that star player and reinvest, before he has little to no sell on value...

Also, someone pointed out that City paid £22mm for Lescott, so in my opinion the price just went to £30mm...

"The Spaniard's move, triggered by a desire to leave Anfield, frustrated Agger. "It is unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool's arch rivals," he said. "For a Dane, it's about having respect for the club you play at. I am proud to be able to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England. I would never go to Manchester United or Everton, for example. It's about a form of respect for the club."
