Should Liverpool give 9Euro for Dempsey? I say yes if they can sell Adam,Cole and Aquilani. Remember Dempsey is 29 years old but I think he still has a good 5 years in him and we need an attacking mid-filder and now Gerrard can play back with Lucas.

yes. like you said, dempsey's still got some good years ahead of him since he started professionally so late
plus the thought of one of the best Murican's on 'pool makes me JIMP
but i think gerrard needs to be pushing forward feeding balls to our forwards and wingers, not dropping back

I think he is a better passer than our other mid-filders so playing back he can deliver ball's over the top. Dempsey is more of an attacking mid-filder. Yes Gerrard could attack when we had the likes of Xabi Alonso who could feed balls all over the field but sence he left we havent had that type of mid-filder with that quality passing.I think Gerrard can fill that roll.

I wouldn't expect Gerrard to play a huge role this season. He might play a role similar to Bellamy last season. I expect him to start ~20 matches and sub on in 5-10 (assuming no injuries). When he is on though, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dempsey at centre forward.

I think this is the million dollar question right now. He's certainly technically gifted enough (which pretty much everyone seems to look over), but he's about as fast as an electric wheelchair. That certainly doesn't help his odds of fitting into BR's ideas.

Interesting... If healthy, I would think he plays a big role and would be one of the first names in the team sheet, at least for league matches. Now he may play a different role and sit deeper in the midfield...
