You came in here not to argue the merits of the show based on its merits as a tv show by based on your own preconceived notions of political policies. There is already a thread and even a whole other board to discuss that bullshite. You came with the intention of inflaming and derailing the thread.

Ah, this explains a lot. Never mind.

Let's not even feed the troll.

So thoughts on some other things in the show
They're apparently going to have a two-episode arc later in the season called The Blackout. Assuming they follow chronologically, was there a blackout in NYC in 2010? Or are we looking at a metaphor?

I don't think it's a literal blackout

quote:

In broadcasting, the term blackout refers to the non-airing of television or radio programming in a certain media market. It is particularly prevalent in the broadcasting of sports events, although other television or radio programs may be blacked out as well.

There was a blackout from Arizona to SoCal. They could be reporting on that.

I wondered that too.

I went back and looked and it's listed now as The Blackout, Part 1: Tragedy Porn and The Blackout, Part 2: Mock Debate. Interesting.

This. I'm a pretty conservative guy. I don't let Sorkin's politics upset me because I knew what they were going in. It's a show. Enjoy it for what it is.

Stop politicizing a thread about an episode that was all about politics?

I like the show, for the most part. As stated in my earlier post though this episode annoyed me because the show is touting itself as being about a new crew doing a hard news, non-biased show yet this episode was nothing but a massive bash against Conservatives based on a completely erroneous argument about why voters and Tea Party-backed candidates were/are against raising the debt ceiling.

Weekend before last I went with my sister and her brood to see Brave and even the kids were disappointed in the movie because it turned out to be nothing like what the previews portrayed. That's about how I feel about this particular episode: it didn't really portray what they've touted the series as being.

We'll see how the next episode goes.

Just finished the 3rd episode, All they were doing was taking a stance on something, it just happened to be against the Tea Party. And all the points they bring up make sense and Wills main point was that the Tea Party was hurting the Conservative party. Not sure why everyone is all upset?

Eta: and they even admitted it was left leaning for this stance. But the next time something comes up they may lean right if the facts sway to it

This is exactly what I was thinking...this Sundays episode might lean so far right it pisses liberals off beyond belief. It's amazing people will complain about anything just to complain.

Was this on a podcast or something?

The main point they were trying to get across during most of the show was that the stance against raising the debt ceiling was nothing more than 'screw the people in office" when in fact it was a referendum from the conservative voters that Congress (both parties) has become like an addict when it comes to spending. The Tea Party candidates weren't elected by dumbasses (as Will tried to portray) but by people seeking to force Congress into some level of fiscal responsibility.

The point about the Koch brothers is a good one and one that I would need to research more in order to comment on, but the sadness about the election and the purposeful mishandling of the debt ceiling debate was nothing but an attempt to bash the Tea Party by trying to manufacture a "truth".

No in the show when they were yelling at the boss guy about how the news show was just bashing republicans ad going way left. He said they are just presenting the facts and not trying to make it seem fair or present both sides, they just present the best form of the argument. So whenever there is something where liberals are acting dumb, I have all the faith it will be presented that way

i totally agree. But i think most of the people are getting mad that the rants at the begining of EP1 and EP3 went against the whole plot of EP3. That Episode was completely one sided(really doesnt matter which side).

I should have stuck with my first instinct that I can't stand Sorkin. And no it isn't the politics it's his whole style that just bugs the shite out of me. I gave the show the benefit of the doubt because of Jeff Daniels but I don't see myself watching this anymore.

LSU 92, don't you know by now that liberals only apply that freedom of speech and opinion thing to the media and filmmakers skewing fact for entertainment purposes? Now take your gas guzzling SUV back to your mansion and keep your mouth shut, you're upsetting the liberal intelligencia here you neanderthal. Don't you know better to not question the shite you get fed to you on HBO like the rest of the cattle!?!?

I still can't believe that Sorkin, knowing full well what his rep as a liberal writer, pulled this card on episode 3.

Tonights episode: "I'll Try to Fix You"

quote:

Will becomes tabloid fodder after a confrontation with a gossip columnist on New Year's Eve, which threatens to undermine his credibility on a current news investigation. Meanwhile, Don urges Maggie to set Jim up on a date with her roommate; Mac's boyfriend pitches a story about the government's inability to prosecute financial crimes; and Neal tries out his Bigfoot theory on anyone who will listen.

I still hate some of the exchanges in this show, like the bigfoot exchange between Maggie and her boyfriend. Who talks like that?
