I walked outside and saw him sitting in the tree. He let me get about 100 yards away before flying off.

I'm no tree hugger, but I sure am happy that these things are getting common enough to see around....damn sweet pics...

I bet that's a fascinating sight to behold. I've never seen one a loose.

Probably the same one. I watched one about 4 years ago pluck a fish from in front of the house and fly across the river and eat it in a tree. Happened about 30 yards from me. It was very neat to see. I really don't see them all that often so every time is a treat.

Just awesome. Thanks for the pics..

Hopefully they stay in the trees. That's a phase-to-phase waiting to happen if they get around the transmission lines. Maybe they're smarter than their distant cousin, the hawk, who often forgets his own span and falls victim to the path of lowest resistance.

I bet he could ruin your day with those talons.

We have yorkie a couple of houses down that runs loose sometimes, running around barking at everything. Sure would be horible if that eagle picked him up...

Great pics.... Saw one the first time up close during this past duck season. He was just flying around us down in Reggio on the fresh water side of the highway. Pretty neat stuff. Oh and I'd pay money to watch that big fricker pick a yorkie up! Hate those little bastards

Stop patronizing the Op. We all know this is just a white headed African swallow.

My pair flew the coop. They had two chicks that made it. I saw them about a week before they left and I didn't have my camara. Was going to go back knowing they were about to leave, but I was put in the hospital for that week.
This pair has been nesting on my place the pass 9 years using the same nest every year.
