Why is no one blaming the players for poor hitting?

All Ive seen is coach-bashing. Just curious why the hitting coach is 100% at fault here.

The players are somewhat at fault but the buck stops with the coach. He recruits the players, he teaches the players, and he puts the player's name on the lineup card. It stops at the top.

Because the players go to the plate with a bad approach all year long. The hitting coach should correct them some what, but he didn't.

Because the perception is that Javi didn't know what he was doing, and that perception was reinforced (rightly or wrongly) by the fact that Dunn replaced Grewe and our staff became lights out (to say nothing of the fact that when Grewe had a two headed monster, his staff was formidable--that is perhaps another topic for another day).
Plus it seems a bit untoward to say Katz and Jones have no concept of the strikezone and, the Arbitron 5000 appears to be created by the United States government to consistently bounce into double plays. I think we'd all just prefer to say Javi sucks and move on with out lives.

I think enough people have blame Edward and Fields today

because everyone already knows the hitting coach is nothing but a coleslaw technician

It is amazing, though. All of the ratios are exactly on point. Great Q with that guy.

It all comes down to the coach. It starts with recruiting.

Up to the coach to make changes. We have a dugout full of players it's called benching players to make them focus on their approach at the plate.

Don't forget his dry rub. One of the best around.

I've seen plenty of folks tell me that the reason we are ultimately not in Omaha is because we have deficient talent for position players and at the plate especially.
Definitely a lot of player-blaming going on amongst folks who defend Maineiri & Sanchez. Definitely.

I could be wrong but I've always believed that baseball is the sport that relies most heavily on coaching. Also, wouldn't the hitting coach be evaluating the guys we recruit with PM?

Im sure it is a mixed bag. I did find it rather interesting that the pitch count going into the 7th inning last night was:
LSU 137
SB 87
LSU definitely has a different hitting philosophy.

SB was just a good scrappy team. They did not fear the crowd. They enjoyed the spotlight. Their hitters could care less who was pitching. They are aggressive at the plate and work the count. There are times we play too much small ball. A guy on second is scoring position. Don't waste an out just to have him at third. I understand avoiding the double play but be aggressive take a base or hit and run. Don't just give up outs. First pitch swinging usually only does their pitcher a favor. Get to the bullpen. SB earned those wins we need to be more aggressive at the plate next year.

The response from that camp is that we "no longer have a coach who has the title of recruiting coordinator".
Nevermind that this was done so we could spare Javy of being blamed for the sh!teous players that they allege we have or just in case the players we bring in are also either:
A.) Unresponsive to his lights-out coaching.
B.) Just labeled as talentless so as to avoid blame for coaching ineptitude.
Oh, and for the folks that think we were left with a "stacked staff". We had Gausman who was a .500 pitcher with loads of talent last year. Nola is a Freshman. He wasn't left by Grewe. We were gifted him. So how was it that a staff w/one Bonus Baby & 1 18 year old SEC starter somehow were "stacked" by the former staff?
GMAB.

It is probably more fairly attributable to the fact that they had a ton of drafted players on that team. I'm not really sure you can coach someone to do the things that Jankowski did for them. He was a holy terror. Even when we popped him up, he still got on. Quite amazing really.

They didnt chase bad pitches and when they had 2 strikes, anything close that they couldnt drive they fouled off. Ive never seen poise like that from top to bottom.

Is hard to bash the players when, quite frankly, most of them don't belong on an LSU caliber roster. Make no mistake, not only was SB better coached, they had higher quality baseball players up and down their line up. There's no excuse for a school like LSU to be out manned like they were. Got to blame the guys who put the roster together
