What exactly was bad about the Snickeris PM call to steal? Hindsight from rantards because of a debatable call? Running on that play was the right move.

Running to stay out of a DP actually caused a DP yesterday. Ball was hit hard up the middle and by running took the second baseman to the ball, which he turned into a DP anyway.

My problem with that play was that at the time, the Stony Brook starter was beginning to labor. If we get the walk there with no one out, there's a chance we might have been able to chase him. Instead he gets a gift out and gets out of the inning.

That said, LSU is not a very good hitting team. It would really help if the Tigers could get an early lead tomorrow. I have a feeling we're gonna need 5 or 6 runs to stay in the game.

Why do people with less than 10 posts always complain about things that don't get talked about enough on the Rant?

I disagreed with that call. I don't disagree with running Snickeris today.

Pretty much my only critical thing to say about PM.

But, could it be he understands that he has to try and manufacture runs with the fact that we don't hit that well?

P.M. got you where you are today in a Super Regional needing only 1 win to get to the CWS.

I disagree completely with your thought process.

the bigger problem today was his mistake of pulling the infielders in on the first run

This was pretty much my point. We gave him an out that he didn't earn, which came at a point when he looked to be slowing down. With the pitcher laboring, the risk of being thrown out on the bases seemed to be greater than hitting into a double play. If we hit into a double play, then whatever, the pitcher bailed himself out. But running to prevent a double play and being thrown out at 2nd bails the pitcher out. I just don't think it is necessary in that situation, or in many situations late in games.

My point was that the eventual call (out/safe) is irrelevant. With the pitcher laboring, in that situation, the risks outweigh the rewards. What if in that situation Moore hadn't walked, and the pitch was a called strike 3 and they then threw Snickeris out? Then trying to stay out of a double play would have caused a double play. That is overall point. Trying to avoid double plays seems to be causing them more often than not.

IDK. Personally, I think they complain about as much as people with 10k posts.

The rantards have the benefit of hindsight to second guess CPM's calls. Yet they don't talk about the calls that work....lol. I just browse through and laugh/shake my head because CPM has probably forgot more about baseball than these folks will ever know.....including me!

Cue the "I pay my hard earned money so I can bitch all I want" crowd. And let's not leave out the "CPM gets paid millions so a loss is inexcusable" crowd. Did I leave anybody out?

Oh yeah....the "so you're happy with all of CPM's decisions" folks too. I think that about covers it.

You do realize that Snickeris was safe on that steal, correct? The call worked.

It's not Mainieri's fault the kid doesn't forgot the basic principles of baseball that require you to stay on the base if you don't want to be tagged out.

Snick thought he was touching the bag with his toe, but he wasn't. Sucked.

Coach was off his game today and Stoners got ALL the breaks. We totally wasted our best pitcher.

No it didn't. He would have been safe at 2nd had he not stolen. It was ball 4 correct? It was an unnecessary risk that wasn't worth the reward. The outcome of the play was irrelevant.

. You also forgot this one. Coaches know more than us and are always right, therefore we shouldn't question them....so let's shut down the rant.

Seems to me the inability to hit contributes a lot to other problems which have been well documented.

Let get the bats going and many other problems will solve themselves.
