I have zero doubt they'll change the bats in the future. Idk what they'll do, but they'll change them.

Why was change needed?
I see ppl making these comments but no one has backed them up with cold hard facts.
IMO the bats that were used 1999-2009, were right combination. It proved a good combination between the power teams, small ball teams and pitching rich teams. They have in reality swung things in the opposite direction from where the game was in 1998 when LSU hit 188 homers. Now the game is slanted so far in the direction of pitching its not even funny. There is no balance, even average pitching can shut teams down. Its not far from being like girls softball. Some ppl will say that they should just go to wood bats and be done with it. This isn't the answer either, these are young men who aren't physically mature yet in stength and technique. It makes for a extremely boring game alot of times. If they continue down this path it will end up costing college baseball a portion of its fanbase.

Maybe
Maybe football should go back to the rule that if a pass is incomplete that you recieve a 5 yard penalty.

It's pretty obvious there was a huge disparity between college and pros when it came to the bats. Isn't the goal for a good bit of college players to get in to the pros? I would think it's a disservice to them for not trying to get them prepared.

I didn't realize it was the responsibility of college baseball to develop talent for MLB. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I agree. Gorillaball was fun to watch, but so is baseball. Bringing the sport back to earth means true fans can enjoy the nuances of the game.

we just seem to like gorilla ball bc we won 4 national titles in that era... i can see where bama doesn't like it bc gorilla ball beat them their only opportunity for a CWS, or GA Tech when we put 29 on them, or Miami who lost on a walkoff HR

All of you that think college baseball is a proving ground for MLB and that MLB or MiLB gives a rats arse about baseball show hoe little you know about baseball...

When i played baseball, we only had wood bats. Metal bats had not yet been invented. Cop out to try to use the above comment. Baseball isn't a quick results. Its more of a mental game using the players you have to develop a strategy to beat the opposing team. Most people dont' like baseball because its slow. I admit that. But most people don't know the nuances of the game either, the skill involved to play the game, etc. I'd much rather see a low scoring, well played game than a high scoring game where the #8 hitter can hit a dinger off the handle or a mis-hit, or a team that hits 188 HR's a year in a 52 game season.

sports and life should be played without the quick easy fixes. the young generation believes it is ok to cheat as long as your team doesn't get caught. let's see who is the best-bring back the wooden bats and pre 70's rules. mos t of u are tiddy babies and u don't know what the real world is like.. grow up!!!

MLB may get involved with college baseball and make us use wooden bats. This would be the worst thing to happen to college baseball IMO
Well, the MLB will never MAKE the NCAA use wooden bats; they don't have any control over what colleges do. Word is that they are looking at working with college baseball and providing wooden bats, which can be expensive. Between this, the CBA, shortening the length of the signing period for draftees, etc., I believe that the college game will benefit mightily.
