On paper and in experience we will be better. In general every player that will contribute will be a year better but it's going to be hard to be better than we were on the field last year. We were outright dominant for most of the year last year. That's hard to do 2 years in a row but if you want my guess, I'd say yes. I think we're going to beat some serious arse this year. I don't think our team will lack any motivation or hunger. In fact I think they'll be hungrier and will be looking to show that Jan 9 was an abberation. We have a special group of Jrs that are going to rub off on the rest of the team and allow us to be dominate all year. Can't wait for Bama. I'll get bashed by Bama fans and maybe by some LSU fans but I think that game could get ugly on the scoreboard and on the field. Much like Bama's group wanted to set the record straight on Jan 9, our guys will want to do the same this November.

I agree with most of that. It will hard to dominate Florida and Auburn at their place the way we did at home last year and I'm still a little worried about Arkansas, but overall, I think it should be a better team, lets just hope we get the hardware.

Michael Dyer? What planet are you on?

ETA: We will be better. If our team is not THE most fired up and hungry team out there then I'll be gosh damned.

center is a worry, as it was last year.

QB is probably an improvement although I found Mett's throwing arc in spring to be too low of an angle, and I suspect he will run into INT's if he does that in the big time. At least they will be way downfield.

Also: we dont know how Mett will react until after he has tasted an illegal hit that the refs ignore. its going to happen.
At least he can run some.

I am so glad that Karnell Hatcher is gone, I have the delusion that anything we run out there at LB is going to be better.

I think the FB play will be a tad better.

all in all, just a hair better on offense. JL was the SEC senior QB of the year. he was actually pretty good except for the Bama INTs after he had been tagged after the play by Upshaw.

I am visualizing RS10 going down for balls, like Wes Welker and moving the chains. I imagine RS10 being interviewed after the Washington game, saying he is delighted to have made 10 catches, all for 6 to 14 yards. He is just glad to be part of a great team. Blah blah. no more reaching down for the ball and losing it from his fingertips, trying to take it to the house, instead of settling for a completion.

Won't Josh Dworaczyk be back? He'll be a huge contributor.

In all honesty, I don't think we will have a 13-1 year because of the fact that is very hard to repeat. However, I can see us 11-2 or 12-1! I am predicting a loss at Auburn (I think AU is very underrated, in all honesty) and maybe at Arkansas, but I think we HAVE to beat Alabama after all we've been through. I think that's how Les feels.

Based on consistency and excellency in performance, here is how I would rate the 2011 versus 2012 seasons:

Special Teams:
2011 A+
2012 A
Defense:
2011 A
2012 A-
Offense:
2011 C+ (Many of the points scored were special teams or defensive oriented or at least facilitated)
2012 A-
Difficulty of Schedule: (easier gets high grade)
2011: D- (9 games versus ranked teams)
2012: B- (No Oregon, WVU, etc..but it is still the SEC)

Bottom Line:
2012 should be a tangibly better team across the board, counting each units support of the other for down-and-distance, field position, etc... As such, 2012 will be a far more complete team, and I think if Mett turns out to be reasonably good, this could be the best team ever at LSU. I am counting on ODBJr and Jarvis Landry to be as good as I think they are for this prognostication, and for Shep to be at least ok.

Mett staying healthy or not will define this season for better or worse. We have the potential to be considerably better than last year.

After summer practice we will have a better idea who else can play.
After the North Tex game, there better be one or two from the three nominees.
Its too much to hope that any one player plays every down.

It will take a legit qb to even have a chance against our defense, so that already narrows it to bama and arky IMO

You forgot the most important one:

HC - 2012 Les vs. 2011 Les

We will have to win it all this year for me to even think about forgiving him for Jan 9th.

just as strong on D and absolutely stupid good on O.

Seriously, can you imagine last years running game with an actual passing threat?

Love me some RR (and instantly rooting for the Giants), but OBJ is about to put up some Josh Reed numbers..

no JJ will make the team 100 percent better any further questioning the team is absurd

Yes, he will. When he got injured in last year's spring, he was going to be a third year starter. His Redshirt Soph year, he started all 13 games. And his RS.Junior year, he did as well. From what I understand, he helped coach the OLmen last year while injured as well. If he's back to where he was before the injury, AND La'El still starts over him, the OL is gonna be sick.

the team will be better and with an easier schedule and less overall drama. the defense will be better with monty, mingo, logan, reid, tm7 and simon all seeing their first major action last year. we loss pp7, nevis and sheppard and the defense got better and I see the same this year.

the offense is obviously better with mett.

team chemisty better without all the drama.

coaching better as mett allows staff to do more things and krag in year 2.

What we lose with Mo and Brokers, we will make up at the LB position. Francois and Baker had a very subpar year.

Defense will be a push.

O-Line and QB will be much improved.
