+1. It is becoming a giant mess. Everyone wanted a playoff and now here we are.

its not that easy; there is a little thing called anti-trust which will still cause problems; a four team playoff that excludes major schools will not fly.

There will not be a 4 team playoff that excludes anyone, but I think the whole anti-trust angle is bogus. No one is stopping the remaining teams/conferences from having their own playoff.

As for ND we will have to agree to disagree, but I think there is simply too much money from these conference TV deals for ND to ignore and no way NBC will match them for one team.

lol. Wouldn't that be something? ND and Penn State to the ACC and FSU/Clemson playing Baylor and Texas Tech wondering wtf happened!

if you specifically disallow schools to participate, that is all the proof one needs.

This does not specifically disallow schools to participate.

It does, however, make it very difficult for them to get into the big game by the very nature of the superconferences and their alliances with each other.

Isn't this what's been going on with AQ status anyway? Plenty of D1 programs have been effectively shut out for a while now.

Exactly. Thats why an antitrust attack on this thing will go nowhere.

I just hope GT isn't left in the dark, if FSU goes, which is apparently inevitable now then I would be in full favor of going to the Big12

Very worried about being left out, too. Hoping the Big10 sends an offer, but that's a long ways to travel.

Big12 seems like the best hope

If these super conferences form with each conference winner playing in the playoff, then regular season non-conference games won't even matter.

I was told today that Notre Dame has agreed to join the Big 12...Florida State, Clemson and GA Tech would also join the Big 12.

SEC would then take NC State and VA Tech.

Remaining ACC Schools would merge with Big East.

NC State and UNC aren't going to be in separate conferences. I just don't see how it is possible.

Big east would be a basketball conference.

Does nc state want to be in a basketball conference or a football conference?

Wow,even with an ACC/Bleast merge it would be a relatively anemic football conference after the loot-killer Basketball though.

It's a cryin shame where Pitt and Cuse have let their football programs go.

there are numerous hurdles to clear before either of those happen.

NC State and UNC are pretty tight nit.
UVA and the VA state government will not allow VT to go anywhere and leave UVA out in the cold. For VT to get permission to leave for the SEC, UVA would need an invite to the B1G or to the SEC as well (not that UVA would really want to be in the SEC).

We are definitely a basketball school.

The only way UNC and State split, that I can see, would be if Duke and UNC go somewhere else, and State isn't offered a spot.

Sorry bro, I'm gonna need some kind of source before I give this a serious thought.

Why not pick up Old Dominion University instead of vatech/UVA? Located in the Mecca of virginia( Virginia beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, suffolk, Hampton, Newport news and Portsmouth)

if this was all about money ND would be booking a ticket to join the most lucrative conference (SEC), or at the very least they would be negotiating with the B1G ...

why settle for Big12 $$ when they could hypothetically land SEC $$$$$?

money is like 4th or 5th on the list; #1 is access to the BCS.
