After reading a few posts today, some old and some new, I decided to do a quick season by season breakdown:

Losses Under Miles:
2005 (2)
#10 Tennessee 3 pts OT
#13 Georgia 20 pts SEC Champ

2006 (2)
at #4 Auburn 4 pts
at #5 Florida 13 pts

2007 (2)
at #18 Kentucky 6 pts triple OT
Arkansas 2 pts triple OT

2008 (5)
at #12 Florida 30 pts
#9 Georgia 14 pts
#1 Alabama 6 pts OT
Ole Miss 18 pts
at Arkansas 1 pt

2009 (4)
#1 Florida 10 pts
at #3 Alabama 9 pts
at Ole Miss 2 pts
#11 Penn State 2 pts Cap1 Bowl

2010 (2)
at #5 Auburn 7 pts
at #12 Arkansas 8 pts

2011 (1)
#2 Alabama 21 pts Nat Champ

Les Miles has 18 losses while at LSU:
Fourteen losses to ranked opponents
Twelve losses either away or at neutral site
Four losses to unranked opponents
Four losses in OT/triple OT
One loss to non-SEC team

Losses by team:
3-Alabama
3-Arkansas
3-Florida
2-Auburn
2-Ole Miss
2-Georgia
1-Kentucky
1-Tennessee
1-Penn State

Three biggest losses, from a overall season perspective:

1. 2011 Alabama, moving right along
2. 2010 Arkansas, kept us from a BCS game
3. 2005 Georgia, kept us from an SEC Championship

Comments... was any other loss bigger than the three mentioned above.

Seriously, I know we're in the off season, but what exactly is the purpose of this thread? Discuss what? Miles is good at barely losing? Because there are some pretty good arse whippings in there.

Miles has only lost 18 games? This has been discussed.

IDK

Thanks for posting in a different way what has been discussed a million times, why don't you try an original topic. What exactly is the point of the OP?

Florida and/or Auburn 2006 arguably were. If we win either of those two games, we win the SEC West, very possibly the SEC and the NC.

Ditto Auburn 2010.

We also beat them and finished with a better record overall.

2005 loss to Tenn was huger than the loss to Georgia in the SECCCG because it ruined a perfect season that no one would have expected in wake of Katrina. Had they not melted down in the second half after playin so awesome in the first, they may have gone into the SECCG against Georgia in a totally new light with everything to play for in terms of a National title!

Miles would have been off to a roarin start!

The 2006 loss to Auburn will always burn me as the Refgate game. That kept us from a rematch that I think we would have won against Florida putting us in the national championship game and raping OSU before we raped OSU in 2007.

letting them come back after halftime with clausen

at #18 Kentucky 6 pts triple OT
Arkansas 2 pts triple OT

kentucky and arkansas ran out asses into the ground

at Arkansas 1 pt

last minute casey dick TD to corner of endzone

at Ole Miss 2 pts
#11 Penn State 2 pts Cap1 Bowl

bad clock management and randle dropped sure TD in a game on a terrible field.

at #12 Arkansas 8 pts

hatcher taking out his own man and allowing an 80 TD before halftime with no time left on clock, 3 80+ TD passes in one game.

#2 Alabama 21 pts Nat Champ

Nothing needs to be said here no game prep.

these gmaes should be in the win column and not the lose column.

I don't think Les has gotten over the 2005 loss to UT in many fans eyes. I know it gave me a glimpse of his clock management skills which have been confirmed by many other games.

I think we win one more in 06 and we play tOSU for the championship.

No doubt.

Yes.

I've said this before and I'll say it again the 2006 Auburn loss was the biggest loss (besides the 11 NC game of course)

Had LSU won that game, LSU would have made three straight trips to Atlanta (05, 06, and 07) With the way LSU was playing at the end of 06, it's very possible LSU would have beaten Florida in the SECCG and Ohio State in the NC Game. LSU could have possibly had 2 straight SEC Championships and 2 straight National Championships, if we had won the 2006 Auburn game.

06 still lingers cus we were the best team at end of season imo. That uf game was jmarcs worst game in a tiger uni, couple that with the close calls in the aub game. 08,09 we just werent that good, def no where near as good defensively as we have besn last 2 seasons under chavis.

Very good record, and i think only one coach that has beaten les, hasnt been beaten by les, joe paterno.

Of those loses his average margin of loss was 8.67 points.

7 of those loses were from top 5 teams, 5 of which went on to win the BCS NC.
