It would be the SEC Tourney Rd. 2

We also had 4 teams a few years ago (2005 I think)
ETA: It was 2004
The 97 All-Tournament Team
Pitcher Jeff Austin Sophomore Stanford
Jarrod Kingrey Junior Alabama
Catcher Matt Frick Junior Alabama
First baseman Eddy Furniss Junior Louisiana State
Second baseman Joe Caruso Senior Alabama
Third baseman Andy Phillips Sophomore Alabama
Shortstop Brandon Larson Junior Louisiana State
Outfielder Tom Bernhardt Senior Louisiana State
G.W. Keller Sophomore Alabama
Mike Koerner Junior Louisiana State
Designated hitter Mark Peer Junior Alabama
One player not from SEC

That's an all-LSU/Alabama team. Although, both teams were by far the two best teams in college baseball that year.

quote:ok, fella, look at it this way, in terms of RPI....
But we got such a hard regional!!!
In these projections, look at who each national seed has to compete with for a spot in Omaha (RPI numbers)....
(1) F$U (RPI #1) -- Ark (12) and UCF (20).
(2) Baylor (RPI #3) -- Stan (8) and Gonzaga (30)
(3) Purdue (RPI #5) -- Florida (2) and Miami (19)
(4) UK (RPI #10) -- NCSU (15) and App State (24)
(5) LSU (RPI #7) -- UCLA (4) and Arizona (18)
(6) S.Carolina (RPI #9) -- UNC (6) and ECU (22)
(7) Rice (RPI #11) -- UVA (14) and A&M (17)
(8) Oregon (RPI #16) -- CSUF (13) and NMSU (21)
So, besides Purdue, LSU would have the highest combined RPIs to deal with if looking at the top 2 in each Supers pairings.
I doubt these pairings wind up looking much like the actuals.

Well I was talking specifically about the regional. Arizona is a good team, no doubt. But I have the utmost confidence that we would beat Oklahoma and Southeastern even on the road more times than not.
Getting Arizona to close out the regional at home and then payback for UCLA is just how the cookie crumbles IMO.
You gotta play your way through your regional (and that #2 seed will most of the time be ranked). Then you play a Top 16 team at home for the super.
It's tough but somebody's gotta do it.

Can't we get a Southeastern or some other LA school cupcake that will undoubtedly make the tournament?
Or are they not projected to be in?

Oklahoma has a guy, Magnifico, who threw 22 fastballs > 100MPH & simply mowed down Arkansas for 8 & 2/3 earlier this year. Don't know much else about them.

lol. Would love to beat UCLA's arse at our park in the Supers.

That's right. I remember seeing Kendall Rodgers tweet about him earlier this year. Completely forgot about that.

Purdue as a national seed is a fricking joke. They haven't played a top 25 team all year.
quote:
13. PURDUE Last Week: 3-1. Overall: 34-7, 14-4 in Big Ten (0-0 vs. Top 25). Weekend Series: 7-0-1.
Other teams of note against Top 25 competition:
Kentucky 11-4
LSU 8-4
Florida 14-8
USCe 3-3
A&M 3-7
Arkansas 5-8
Ole miss 6-5

kendall needs to get over his rice obsession.

I really don't see how anyone can have Oregon as a national seed over us right now.

I see Kendall Rogers is smoking crack. UF and Stanford national seeds but not us...
