Why didn't Frodo just fly on one of those damn eagles that lifted him out of the volcano at the end of the movie at the beginning of the movie to drop the ring in the lava so I wouldn't have wasted nine hours of my life on this overly-dramatic and CGI-tastic "masterpiece"?

Well, when the eagles came in and flew them out of Mordor, the orks were decimated from the earthquake or whatever you call it that happened during the final battle when Frodo threw the ring into the volcano. They would have easily been spotted if they tried to fly in there with all those things everywhere.

That's just a lame excuse to say why they wouldn't be guarding the Crack of Doom. Its not like he's got a shortage of trolls.

How do you plan on keeping these trolls watered and fed at the Crack of Doom? I think Sauron's arrogance was the ultimate reasoning... I mean he was the all seeing eye and everything plus a doomed journey in his mind to begin with...

Honestly, I'm kinda tired of villains being taken down by their own arrogance. Happens in pretty much every fantasy or sci fi setting.

I never really liked the movies.

I never felt invested in the characters.
That's the most important thing for me in movies.
They just seemed to be...running, then fighting large battles, then running.

And the ghost battle at the end bothered me.
I mean, nothing could hurt the ghosts besides that sword?
I dunno, it bothered me.

To the people that said, "seems like you copied and pasted", no. I'm an original thinker and all the views are my own. I didn't research to post my opinion of LOTR. Everything I have stated is my own observation/critique.

Well said. Then again, I guess we're just too analytical/critical for this masterpiece. There sure seemed to be a plethora of horses placed at opportune moments in the saga. Hey, Sam WhatsYourName, instead of worshipping and then praising Mister Frodo's every deed and action, grab a horse and speed this up.

Peter Jackson had to have given the women in the movie Xanax chased with alcohol. That 'wispiness' effect he was apparently going for grew tiresome after hours and hours and hours. They were walking around in a stupor throughout, spewing words of wisdom and love, and it got old.

The best part, IMO, was the beginning of the third installment when it shows the discovery of the ring and the story of the transformation of Gollum/Smeagol.

I didn't hate the movie; I was disappointed.

ETA: Then again, it was CGIriffic. But, even that doesn't help when you're no longer emotionally invested in the plot/characters.

I know exactly what you mean.
That part was excellent.

It actually gave some backstory to a character we didn't know much about.

That's what I wanted for all the major characters.

LOTR has become the Nickleback of movies.

Everyone thought they were awesome at first, and now they are just cool to hate on.

I get people like what they like, and that's cool. You don't like LoTR, that's fine. But you couldn't have been paying attention much if you felt that the characters weren't developed at all.

It is the opposite of nerdy. Star wars would be considered nerdy/geek. LOTR was written during and about World War II. Ain't nothing about a giant dork fest brah.

This wouldn't be considered in the LOTR. The jokes was always if every guy who went see Star Wars had a date it would have had double the profit. Do not put LOTR in that nerdy category please

Star Wars isn't nerdy either. I know plenty of women that LOVE Star Wars.

Star Wars has just become cool to hate on just like LOTR since Episode 1,2,and 3.

Do you know how many movies can be reduced to such a situation that solves the entire thing?

Every single film. A film relies on certain unrealistic or confounded ideas to make a story. If Fouchet's men weren't horrible shots, Bad Boys is over in 15 mins. (And that goes for EVERY action movie).

"Well if they would just have killed that guy, movie over, everyone happy."

"Well, if that character would have made that one small decision, movie over."

"If Benjamin Linus was just murdered like he should have been, well, Lost wouldn't be as convoluted. And probably would have ended 2 seasons early."

And so forth. Such is the creation of drama.
