I guess I don't remember hotel rooms being so expensive.

It wasn't expensive at all in 09. With better things comes higher prices. We paid $100/night at the holiday inn next to the Ameritrade in 09. They provided a free shuttle to & from Rosenblatt too. Obviously now that hotel is likely sold out, if not it would be 300+ a night. Good luck!

We went the last 6 days in 2009...easier to find rooms with some teams being eliminated by then..prices go down on hotels rooms as well by then....first 3 nights we stayed in hotel where Cal State had been...last three nights were in Council Bluffs

Went in 09 with some friends. Went for Championship series. Didn't have a hotel. Found one in Counil Bluffs. Will be doing the same this year as well. (If we make it) Besides, you're gonna be at Rosenblatt all day always, so you really only need a place to crash at night.

am resurrecting this thread, since we reached the supers. I can't make the first weekend of the CWS due to a commitment to a charity I participate in, but if the Tigers make it to the Finals I will be there. Open for any suggestions again on where to stay, other than what has been suggested already.

TIA

I can recommend you use Kayak to find a hotel in your price range.

I would seriously consider the tent idea.

I was just looking at Southwest flights yesterday into either Omaha or Des Moines - both were at least $650 round trip.

Is that the standard price to fly out there...??

Lake Manawa State Park is where we stayed in 2009....It was great (granted, we weren't in a tent, we had a camper)

but they do have indoor showers/toilets that seemed resonably clean

Try flying into St. Louie and just drive to Omaha. I looked into that and it is about the same from no to omaha if you throw in the rental car. Not sure in your case though.

Tent camped in Lake Manawana in 09. I love camping, but I won't do it again if the weather is anything like that...probably won't even if it isnt. It was like 100 degrees for the championship series and humid as hell. Not to mention it rained during game 2, that was a bad night to sleep on the ground.

If anyone does want to try tent camping, I recommend bringing a nice fan, and making sure your tents don't have any holes.

And I remember there being a TON of little league baseball players around ... they sure ate a lot at the really nice breakfast!

The Battle of Omaha.

And they've expanded this tourney. Looking to host 100+ teams each weekend. Each player, parent and coach gets comp CWS tickets to all games played while tourney is going on.

Don't they have swimming trials for the olympics as well during the CWS in Omaha? I think that is why they had to move the CWS start to Friday instead of Saturday.

you could try waiting because im sure a lot of people have rooms booked (like LSU fans) and then if their team lose in supers they will cancel their rooms

also after the first round games all the teams check out and the rates drop a lot

we stayed in council bluffs Iowa, and like SOS said there is also a campground for tents and RVs in council bluffs as well

I went in '03 & '04. I was living in Lincoln at the time so I just drove in on the mornings of the games. I'm sure you could find a reasonably priced hotel there. However, is the the hr long drive to Omaha worth it in your opinion?

Message Posted by SouthOfSouth I stayed in a tent in Iowa. Went in college with 4 buddies. Cost us $8/person for 3 nights. Just brought 2 tents and they had showers and bathrooms. Greatest idea ever.
