did yall stay at Lake Manawa State Park?...in 2009 went up there with my Dad and brother (Texas fans) and we took Dad's travel trailer and stayed there for the entire 2 weeks.

The park had showers, but I used the one in Dad's camper.

I stayed in the Crowne Plaza on the western side of town for way less than $100 in 09. I don't remember exactly. It may have been in the 80s. Cal State Fullerton stayed there.

I went in 2010 with a buddy for our senior trip. We stayed in a Value Place across the river in Council Bluffs. It's a very basic hotel (shower, kitchenette, tv), very inexpensive. We were at Rosenblatt most of the day, so if you're just looking for a place to crash after the game, it's perfect.

Many people don't realize it yet, but the Olympic swim trials are in Omaha at the old Qwest Center the same time as the CWS. They have moved the CWS up a day and it will now start on Friday 6/15. Downtown is gonna be so crowded.

Fares are much lower the second week once teams start going home if this guy wants to risk hoping that LSU wins two games then heading up there.

that should be a mess

A lot of people also don't realize that if you want to catch a full championship run, should LSU be so fortunate, it's like 9 or 10 nights in a hotel.

the camping thing is intriguing. If it wasn't so hot.

It felt like I was out of town for a month in 2009. There's also about three days of down time if LSU wins their first two games.

Maybe 10 or 11. Been there done that. My credit card only recently recovered from 2009.

***IF WE GO***

I'm debating going up there at the start (obviously the most fun when every team is there) vs. waiting til we win a couple & seeing the last few games of bracket play & championship series.

I doubt I'll be able to make the entire series like '09.

You can stay in Councel Bluffs, Iowa cheaper. 5 minutes away. We usually stay on the west end of town away from the park much cheaper. Try Kayak.

No kidding. And if you stay in the winners bracket like we did in 09 there is a ton of off time. We spent 13 nights in the hotel that year.

in 2009 we stayed at Fairfield Inn and Suites Downtown. Drove to the stadium and parked. Remember it being NOT expensive as in < $150 but it was in what was not a seemingly great area at the time.

From what I understand now it is right next to the stadium. And I remember there being a TON of little league baseball players around ... they sure ate a lot at the really nice breakfast!

eta: finals that year were the mon, tues, wed after father's day ... left on saturday, got there sunday (3 kids = 2 days) and came home on Thursday.

AND I seem to remember booking these hotels like a week or 2 before the series started.

This is where I have been staying for years: LINK / . They do up the price a bit during the CWS, but I've been so often I have a standing reservation (no deposit or CC) at the normal rate.

It is not fancy, but it is perfect for going to the games. It is right off the interstate, there is a laundry place on the other side of the interstate you can drop off your clothes. And with the new stadium, you can take the loop and drop off right by the stadium with virtually no traffic.

Have a great time, maybe I'll see you there.

I stayed acrossed the river in Iowa in 09' at the ameristar. It was nice and relatively cheap. It might as well be in Omaha, just jump across the mighty Missouri river (think that's the river)

Search hotels for Carter Lake, IA as well. Most in Omaha are booked, but both Carter Lake and Council Bluffs are viable options.

Went in 09.

I used Priceline and got a hotel for $50/night after taxes. It was a decent hotel. But it certainly wasnt fancy. So it cost me $100 for 4 nights after splitting it with one other person.

ETA. We went for the championship series and didn't book it until LSU beat the snot out of Arkansas to get to the final series.

I made two trips in 09, so I don't have to go to both again. I am thinking about going just for the first 4 days and heading back.

I guess I don't remember hotel rooms being so expensive. I might try the tent idea.
